Rest assured that any new nickname UND comes up with will be insanely stupid. probably with a random color and some sort of ****ing bird. Use Miami and what they're trying to do at RPI as an example. (still disappointed that QU didn't take our Fighting Deer Tick suggestion... sigh)

Because for the NCAA lame and pointless is better than "offensive".

Get ready for your University of North Dakota Green Falcons!!!!!!11!!!!!

Notre Dame's nickname is based on race? The Irish are a race? LOL.

Jesus, you mopes out there in the corn-pone states are as dense as granite slabs. I am pretty sure that if one is "Irish" then that is their ethnicity not their race pinhead. The race in which you would classify most (though not all) people of Irish ethnicity would be "Caucasian".

...and the same holds true for the good people of the "Seminole" nation. People of the Seminole nation would be classified under the "Amer-Indian" or "Native American" race.

Oh I suppose you may be one of those types who looks upon race as some anthropologists and social scientists do as being more of a "social construct", but that would presume some understanding of the social sciences and that is clearly an understanding which you woefully lack.

Try sticking to topics with which you have some familiarity. Bowling, comic books, video games, and other pursuits of the bottom-feeding corn pone.

How about "The Sioux Fighters" instead of Fightin' Sioux? That'll raise some eyebrows.


EDIT: Why are there so many irritating ****ers out there like rinkpig, BeloBrazil, etc? They must be bored with Dungeons & Dragons, or Harry Potter or whatever the geeks are doing these days.

So your point is what? That the statement "some anthropologists look upon 'race' as being a social construct" is correct? Thanks for the validation mope. I don't need wikipedia to tell me that. Lots of Euro-scum think of ethnicity (rightly or wrongly) along race lines which is why I qualified my statement. Like when I have called someone from the UK a "pasty skinned, dentally-challenged, bangers and mash-consumer" they get all emotional about it and start referring to my statment as racist. I don't see it that way - and I am sure the dolt Badger lover there, much like yourself, has no understanding of the differences between race and ethnicity.

By the way, I am guessing that it was the "corn pone" remark that got you all hot and bothered. Look I understand that you square state types don't get out of the country much so if you are confused by the term "bangers and mash" just wikipedia the phrase mope!
