Health Care Reform - 1/6 of the Economy Up for Grabs

Re: Health Care Reform - 1/6 of the Economy Up for Grabs

It most certainly is, basically, a Ponzi scheme. Well, maybe Pyramid scheme is a better terminology. It's taking money from one group of people and giving it to another with no added value. Any scheme like that is basically a "rob-Peter-to-pay-Paul" type system. Which is exactly what SS is. Takes money from workers and gives it to retirees. No matter if the retiree put in $0 or $1m.

As long as the Government keeps the payouts the same or lowering them and keeps jacking up the tax levy then SS will survive the selfishness of the current retirees and the poor planning by the Government.

Also do me a favor and please stop putting :D by your insults. They aren't funny and the stupid :D doesn't make them so. If you going to try to insult someone at least admit it.

Matt I will put :D     :p ;) etc, etc whenever I please regardless of your feelings on the subject. I'd suggest getting used to it. :D

Source???

Social security started in 1934 I believe. Using your own estimate lets say, that would keep it solvent until 2037. 2037-1934 = 103 years, or greater than 100 if you're having trouble keeping up. To my use of verbage (will instead of has kept it solvent) as we aren't at the 100 year mark I felt it better to keep everything in the present tense. ;)

I assume you have no problem letting it disappear after that point then. It will have lived its 100 years.

We'll just skip over the fact you were implying that it would last for the next 100 years. I know, it sucks when words have meanning.

I'd like it to continue, but tell you what. Why don't you start a campaign to convince your GOP reps to run on an elimination of Social Security platform? I'm sure that will be big winner next election (just maybe not for the people you'd like to see win ;) ).

Walrus, you really need to get your mind away from male posters' rear ends. Perhaps you could stick to the topic at hand next time?

With all that brillance you got in there, you have to share with the rest of us

 This wouldn't be the first time, but I don't get your attempt at a joke. Why do you keep misspelling brilliance?

Good to see healthcare industry spending (equipment purchases, expansion/construction, et al) completely stalled because no one knows what their revenue will look like with this pending bill.

Smart move for the idiots in the WH and Cap. Hill pouring more gas on the smoldering carcass of our economy.

CBO score is in:

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/12/19/2157199.aspx

94% of people covered, 130Bn savings in first 10 years, 1.3 trillion  saved in next ten years.

What's the problem again?

Also - Nelson on board; Dems at 60 votes now.
94% of people under 65 covered, you mean.

And I still hate using Federal expenditures, or even deficit, as a measure of the cost. The measure of the cost should be in %GDP. Who cares if the government spends less money on health care if their decisions also drive up the cost of premiums for private insurance by more than it saves? The country as a whole will end up spending more on health care, and the accessibility to doctors for those with insurance is going to be worse.

How is that a solution again?

Why doesn't it start in 2010? Why do they wait 4 years for it to start

Blah blah blah. Get to the point where this bill causes us to crack each other's heads open and start eating the gooey stuff inside. :D

You knuckledraggers need to coordinate better. I already destroyed this one when MinnFan posted it on the Obamarama thread. :D

You disagree with one set of data in the article because it was developed by an insurer and you think you destroyed the whole article? You didn't even destroy that one set of data. You're just disagreeing with it because it doesn't fit what you want to believe.

As far as posting it on this thread, well this is a health care reform thread.

Doesn't strike you a little funny that they completely ignored the 1.3T in savings the next 10 years. Just glossed right over it.....almost like they had no answer for it, so just happened to stop riiiiigght before they got to that time period. Very interesting.
