50 years? that's just the number of times BU won it:o, this is the 64th year. also, not sure who ticapnews follows or his location but he clearly doesn't understand. Beanpot predates HE by more than 30 years and gets more coverage in town than the HE Tourney................by far. It's incredible and an incredibly Boston event .

I am well aware of the Crockpot's history and how popular it is in Boston. NESN beats us over the head with this information every February. mookie likes to have fun and I was returning the favor.

What Maine and UNH do is a cash grab. They will tell you it is providing fans and alumni a service but most Maine fans would rather have another series at home (don't know about UNH fans). These games in Portland and Manchester make more money than either would make with those home series.

Let's see... More people go to the Portland and Manchester events, hence, more money, but they would rather not be able to attend the game so the teams could have a home series? You wouldn't by any chance happen to be a politician?

Many UNH STH's I've talked to would much rather NOT have to make the trip to either place, and have a typical home and home series and maybe ONE OOC game (like we did with UVM recently). I think it's taking that route next year; and will alternate one year at Verizon, one at Cross, etc.. I know if I stay at STH next year I will opt out of the extra game. (but of course, most likely, will go, but it's my choice, my seat selection).

ps..some of us have talked about how cool it would be to have UNH host a OOC holiday tourney at the Verizon, with teams like UML and other 'local' HE teams whose fans would most likely travel to Manchester to fill the seats. The Verizon games, unless we are in a Regional (and you know how that's been going I don't need the reminder, thanks) seem kind of ho hum at this point...

Funny you should ask...I am running for president. :)

That's also not what I said. Maine fans (read: STH) would rather not drive from northern/eastern Maine to Portland. As was previously posted, UNH STH would rather not travel to Manchester. They still do because they support the team but that doesn't mean they like it.

America East Tournament (UML, UVM, UNH, UMO) every year. Open with UNH v UMO (you guys still don't like each other right? :p ) and UML v UVM (the battle of JCarter and Patronick for second place behind mookie in Hockey East trolol rankings). I would still rather play OOC vs any real OOC opponents, but if UNH, UMO, and UVM are having such trouble scheduling actual OOC games, I wouldn't mind getting all of America East used to finishing below Lowell in the standings.

Before my time, but I've seen others mention on this board that a tournament with these teams did exist at one time and it was called the Governors' Cup.

1-0-0; nice effort, Merrimack, with your 10-0 drubbing of ASU.
