Re: He says he's not dead.

Good, this means gas will stop being $4 a gallon.

You cannot be serious-once the oil companies found out that we were willing to pay that much, they will find all sorts of reasons why it should continue to be that high.;)

We're not willing to pay that much. We have to pay that much. That's why there's all those dirty hippies out on Wall Street right now.

Yes and no. I could bike to work (7 miles one way), I choose not to, because I'm lazy like that. Hell, I drive to the gas station that's 2-3 blocks away, unless it's really really nice out and I feel motivated (which is close to never).

Now, if circumstances were different (say I had a 30 mile commute), then more yes than no. Trouble is, I had that commute before, and I refuse to have that commute again. I moved closer to work. :p

B-12: If we were not willing to pay that much-we would have balked when the price went up so high-and cut back so significantly on driving that the oil companies were forced to lower the prices. It did not happen. Driving fell slightly-but the oil companies made record profits simply because we all kep using their precious oil. Once they tested the market, and saw that people would still consume at $4, they had little reason to drop prices. This was all some sort of market test that went on. I am pretty sure that we all failed this test and that the oil companies still feel that they can bring the price back up to that level again without losing many consumers.
BTW-my feeling about all those dirty hippies picketing Wall Street is that they are picketing the wrong place-they should be in Washington and picketing the government. Just my 2¢

You say that as if there is a difference between Wall Street and the government.

Anyway, there are enough people in the 99% to picket both.

There is a difference-they have different ways available to screw us.;)

Since Wall Street owns our government, I think they've got the right place.

You know it's bad when the stories about him being admitted to the hospital are basically obits.

Well, they probably all have one in the can all ready to go for him, and they're mostly just pulling from that to fill the page. I'm sure they have an obit all ready to go for almost everybody of note, they would just need a few things to put in it before they submit it to the website.

Re: He says he's not dead.

A coworker of mine died over the weekend. This is a great loss, however, knowing his sense of humor he would have loved the contribution to Real Life Grammar Funnies that appeared in his obituary:

... but he was legally adopted when his mother remarried at the age of 14.

So he was from West Virginia? ;)
