HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

Sportsman Show in the field house, should make for some great parking and it breaks the U's rule of not scheduling events at the same time as sporting events. A well oiled machine we got in the ADs office
The U wasn't planning on a hockey game.

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

You're right about the Maine fans being ok guys. I've always been treated pretty good up there. Just trying to defend my city that's all.

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

So NESN will make exactly 0 trips to Orono this year. BU/Merrimack is the Friday game.

These games are scheduled before the season starts, with the exception of the first playoff series. After the previous two seasons, I am not surprised that NESN decided not to come up to do a game. They never have liked the trek up this way and with Maine being on a bit of a downswing I am sure it was an easy decision for them.

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

Yeah man, I had it nailed until Scotty decides to party a little hard.

But, I did get the fourth place finish dead on and I predicted Maine would host UML in the quarters followed by the "fore", which at this point looks like a foregone conclusion:eek: Sometimes I even amaze myself.....lol.

Should we start calling you Nostradamus? :D :p

Has anyone heard if WABI will be broadcasting these games?

I did a quick search through this thread for "wabi" and didn't see anything.

If you live close enough to get WABI, make the trek up

Read about Darling; who's Maine's backup? As soon as I read the name, I'm sure I'll recognize it . . .

Shawn Sirman was seen at BU earlier this year, we have a tendency to get Darling pulled. Although he was injured in the first game and Darling came back in, I think Dave Wilson dressed and made it down to Boston for the second game.

It will be Wilson this weekend.

I think that dude in the red tank top was jcarter when he came down for a UML game. Anyone remember the episode of COPS in Lowell they were chasing a moose around?

Darling has told a few people that he is still playing this weekend against Lowell. Gotta love whitehead using the media to try and fool Lowell.....

oh that's interesting because

Scott Darling, a sophomore goalie at Maine, has released a statement regarding his recent suspension from the men's hockey team:

"I'll be away from the team for a while as I deal with personal issues. I understand the reasons for my suspension and accept responsibility for my actions."

"I apologize to my teammates, coaches and our fans and I will work hard to return to the program when Coach Whitehead decides it is appropriate. I am thankful for the support I have received, and I am determined to learn from this situation and return ready to contribute in a significant way."

***

Joe Carr, the director of university relations at Maine, said that Darling remains suspended indefinitely from the hockey team for a violation of team rules.

"This is the only statement he makes until he returns to the team," Carr said.

Maine Athletic Director Blake James reiterated that Darling has not violated the student-athlete code of conduct, and there are no criminal matters associated with the issue.

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

Must have been using the media again tonight as Whitehead said Darling was done for violating team rules and that Willie had the upper hand as starter for fridays game.

For all those that think Darling might play this weekend, forget about it, it ain't happening.
