HE Preseason #1 vs #2 ... Lowell vs BC (10/26 and 10/28)

Re: HE Preseason #1 vs #2 ... Lowell vs BC (10/26 and 10/28)

ouch. I tune in just in time for a goal. poop.

And they allow cowbells now??!! They threatened to eject me the last time I was there when I had mine. Glad they have loosened up.

It's probably not that cowbells are banned but it was more likely something of principle that a grown adult was banging on a cowbell.

I said all summer Lowell was a fraud and would come crashing to Earth. Forget the BC weekend, you guys can't even beat UVM at home? Welcome back to reality

Whether or not they are "for real" is up for debate (not really but why rain on the UML fans' parade), I will say I was thoroughly unimpressed with UML tonight. Not a lot of sustained offense until BC started taking the foolish penalties.

Too early for that. We'll see as the season moves forward. UML could have won Friday as they outshot BC 2 x 1 but BC was flawless on the PK and the BC defense and goaltending strong.

I was disappointed with the BC penalties today but they were able to survive that and cranked up the offense.

BTW, who is Sullivan paired with? Is he paired with MacLeod or Doherty? Alber? Wey? I'm trying to remember as someone asked me about that.

Eh...see which fans are using them. Easier to toss visiting fans...
I assure you, the TeamOps people are on us like hawks. There's no chance they would allow one of the students to have a cowbell. I'm willing to bet big $$$ that it was someone in the band, who IS allowed to have a cowbell.

Heh.

Re: HE Preseason #1 vs #2 ... Lowell vs BC (10/26 and 10/28)

UML had two stretches of play in the game where they had BC on its heels, but overall, not a good game at all for the Riverhawks--and certainly not good enough to beat a good team on the road. They were lucky it wasn't 4-0 after the first period. Carr wasn't terrible, the bigger problem was the guys in front of him. Just a horrid defensive performance. Maybe time to get Lyles back in there ;)

I personally think Lowell will still develop into a good team. They don't hand out awards after five games outside of Durham.

Nah- it is an honest to goodness cowbell- no drumstick- and my kid, who was I think 2 or 3 at the time, had a little one. The place wasn't that full (this was a bit ago) and it sounded loud when I rang it. BU was the same way. Their fans had cowbells but my kid and I were threatened with ejection if we rang ours. None of the other schools ever had a problem with it.

I believe it is MacLeod, who ended up getting out of position after not lighting up the UML player with the puck right in his skates which ended up in a goal in the 3rd for UML (not sure how the original wraparound didn't go in!).

Wey, BTW, had some monster hits tonight.

Agree, not a very good game by Lowell. BC came out strong and really out skated Lowell. BC's skating and passing was impressive today. Between the bad penalties, the odd man rushes and the D's failure to clear the front of net, Carr didn't get much help.

The funny thing is #10 did ALL the work on his goal yesterday and was probably going to put it in when Wilson came in and stole the puck from him and threw it into the net.

1 G, 0 A, 1 pt, -4 in five games. Yea this guy is definitely better than Gaudreau.

Re: HE Preseason #1 vs #2 ... Lowell vs BC (10/26 and 10/28)

He won HE ROTY last year. End of discussion.

I'm patiently waiting for Matheson's first career goal, because I think the flood gates will then open to his offensive talent.

He certainly could have had at least one on Sunday. He's already been fantastic on D, so getting some offensive output from him would be icing on the cake.

Re: HE Preseason #1 vs #2 ... Lowell vs BC (10/26 and 10/28)

so they wouldn't know that Gaudreau vanished for three months of the season, posting a 4-5-9 line in 19 games from 11/4/11-1/28/12 (.47 ppg).

Just thought this quote would be funny to bring back up to page 1. :D

All of a sudden that .47 ppg clip looks pretty good compared to a month of .14 ppg and a -6 in 7 games.
