Harvard Crimson 2014-15

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-15

This is ridiculous. The games aren't until 18 hours after the snow ends.
Far from ridiculous. There is a small matter of public safety that Harvard has to contend with when holding a public event. The snow totals have been unprecedented for such a short period of time. Not to mention getting to and from the venue considering that rail service has been suspended for today. You need a reality check.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-15

Any word on whether or not tomorrow's Beanpot final is on? There was a lot of snow around Bright-Landry this weekend - clearing space for parking will be a challenge. I know the men are rescheduled for the 23rd.

They can use the $10 parking money for the snow removal cost. Imagine, $44 billion endowment and they have to charge $10 for parking. Oh, I just remembered. They do need to pay Liz Warren's $300k salary for one class.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-15

lucky it snowed. Most of the Harvard fans would have been handcuffed together on the expressway protesting some wrong with the world.

Do you think they could have put some heat in the rink when they did the build out? or has the endowment shrunk to $43 billion?

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-15

Does anybody know whether ESPN3 and ivyleaguedigitalnetwork.com will use the same camerawork and announcers? Will it be the same camera work but a higher quality video transmission on ESPN3?

Where they should have spent more money in the renovations was on lighting."Bright" though it may be called, there really isn't enough ambient light for the cameras when showing a normal view of a large chunk of the ice, compared to close up shots. Grey becomes white as the camera pans in and white becomes grey as the camera pans out.

Good luck tonight. It should be a great one.

Ted Knight: I concur as to the cost of parking, It seems a bit excessive to me, I have season tickets to both men's and women's so paid the $100 for a season parking pass which has saved me a bit of money though. As to Lizzie's salary, I presume that the offer came from the Law School's eagerness to have a Native American on the faculty.

I also concur as to the heat situation. It has been frigid this year. Almost as bad as it was in old Watson Rink. I have been wondering if they have turned down the heat to save money or if they simply have a larger volume to heat due to the renovations and are heating with the same furnace system.

The lighting was completely redone, if I recall correctly, before the 2013-2014 hockey season. My understanding is that the new lighting was installed due to mandates from above the Athletic Dept to make Harvard "Greener" and prevent global warning in conformance with the ideas of our former Overseer, Albert Gore. Looking outside my window today I suspect that the won the war on global warming.

You can't heat an arena when you need to leave the Zamboni room door open to freeze the flood of water left AFTER a resurfacing...because no one read the ice resurfacing manual and the staff seems not to have heard of squeegies.

Is there any truth to the rumour that most of the build out budget was devoted to a secret wing wherein they intend to produce players for the Classes of '31 (that's 2031) and thereafter by cloning DNA from four-time Olympian Angela Ruggiero AB '04, MBA '14 and NHL overall #1 draft pick Gord Kluzak AB '94, MBA '98 and raising the offspring at the rink in Skinner boxes designed by B.F. Skinner PhD '31 (that's 1931)?

Hope you all have a wonderful trip back to Chestnut Hill tonight. That was some game. And to those who question whether Maschmeyer deserved an ECAC goalie of the week, are there any questions after tonight? Emmerance was actually questionable for this game due to an injury suffered in practice last week. The fact that she played tonight and was immense says a lot for her character and toughness.

BC had the better of the opportunities but this game was a far cry from the November clash. This should move us up in the rankings. Now all we need to do is get home ice for our conference tournament semis and finals. And it doesn't get easier because we face Cornell in Ithaca on Friday.
