Confused.....admittedly, Call It's post may have been correct originally, but it dates back to 11/28/14, just after the BC loss (Harvard's sixth game of the season) but nowadays the first two lines are +6 +9 +5 and +11 +9 +5.
My confusion relates to how many Assabet players were on the first line back then...I think only one now. BTW, the current third line, with two Assabet alumnae, is +13 +13 +14.

I have to admit, I'm confused about the references to the Assabet players. Is there something about the program that rubs people the wrong way? Personal experiences with kids who played in the program? I don't have any connection with the program or with kids who have played in it.

Interesting statistic in regard to H's unusual depth this year due to all 5 of last year's missing players being back playing significant minutes: with Armstrong moving in between Fry and Daniels and Laing decamping to the Parker-Heffernan line, the goals scored totals for the three lines over the first 15 games are 17, 13 and 17. Unless 5 bonus players get conjured out of thin air for next year, I doubt we'll ever see such evenly distributed scoring among three lines again in our lifetime.

Well today was one of those forgettable games that made the drive home from Hanover so painful. The Crimson never got off the bus so to speak. No skating, no forecheck and some of the worst defense I've seen in the Katey Stone era. Dartmouth had 7, count 'em, 7 two or three on ones and 3 breakaways including one when Harvard was on the PP. This should have been a 6-2 or 7-2 game. And yet with nine minutes left, Harvard was up 2-1 thanks to Kalley Armstrong's rebound flip off a scramble in front. From there on, all the sins that Harvard committed during the game finally paid off for Dartmouth although in fairness, their second goal should never have happened. It was an all time softie that Mashmeyer blew completely. But it was symbolic of Harvard's futility all afternoon. The Crimson simply did not deserve to win this game because Dartmouth wanted it more and played hard for 60 minutes. They executed a great game plan and stuck to it even though they trailed after two periods.
This loss will cost Harvard dearly in the national rankings and will force the Crimson to beat Quinny at their place in two weeks. They'll also need a win over BU or BC in the Beanpot. Not to mention the need to win out against Ivy opponents to win the league.

I would check your school's athletic department web site and look at their women's hockey team schedule. It should list it there. If you don't see ESPN 3 next to the game in question, then they aren't televising it.

I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I know last time it was at Harvard, Harvard streamed both games, so if they are turning over one stream to ESPN3, I imagine they'll be giving both.

Just a reminder that on Saturday, Harvard has two events that will overlap - the men's basketball game starts at 2pm in Lavietes Pavilion and the women's game against Cornell starts at 4pm. For those attending the women's game only, you might want to plan on parking across the street at the B-school. Men's basketball is close to a sellout and parking will be tough.

So true, made more difficult for some as the rebuild has moved the elevator to the rear of Bright and there are no signed ADA accessible spaces to the rear. it makes it very hard for gimpy sorts like me. A few years ago, due to a basketball conflict, I had to park on a field of frozen grassy mud. Fell and broke my nose. I cleaned up the blood and went to the game, no sense missing a game to sit waiting for xrays when the bone wasn't displaced.
Harvard's disabilities office promised me spaces to the rear as long ago as last August but still nothing.

The best thing you can say about tonight's game is that we won. That's it. Harvard took a period and a half to get going and for the most part, was sloppy in their passing and execution. Their D coverage wasn't great - Colgate getting 20 shots on goal is something of a miracle considering they aren't very good. With all the experience Harvard has back there, you would think the Crimson would do a better job. Natasha Rachlin was actually the best of the bunch and she didn't start out the game taking a regular shift.
Kalley Armstrong got Harvard on the board on a rebound in close about seven minutes into the second period. She also got Harvard's second goal off another scramble in front as the Crimson picked up their game and tried to jam the Colgate net. Harvard's third goal came off a nice rush by Sam Reber down the left side as she cut to the front of the goalie and snapped a wrist shot stick side. Harvard's final goal came with less than two minutes remaining in the game on a power play with Jo Pucci taking one of her patented slap shots that buzzed through a maze of skaters. Good to see her get on the scoresheet.
The final score of this game should have been 5-0 as Harvard was denied a goal that clearly crossed the line in the first period off another scramble in front. Simply unbelievable that the refs didn't go to replay - they should be terminated by the ECAC immediately. Gross incompetence can't be tolerated at this level and had the opposition been a whole lot better, that non goal could have cost them.
Harvard for the past two games has been in a skating funk with poor execution on both ends. I'm not sure what's going on but the Crimson better snap out of it by tomorrow at 4pm or Cornell will surely make them pay. I'm hoping they were looking past the Raiders tonight in anticipation of the game tomorrow against the Big Red. We shall see. We need to skate a whole lot better and make better decisions with and without the puck.

It was nice to see Josephine Pucci back in good form with a goal and assist. Nice considering she did not play the first half of the season. Hope to see more from her.
Just to let the other shoe drop about my whining a few posts ago, tonight they did finally use a temporary sign on a sawhorse and a traffic cone to designate 3 ADA placard spaces to the rear of Bright today. With the basketball conflict tomorrow I hope that they will be available again. It would be annoying to drive 30 miles to get to the gaame, find no space that is usable and have to turn around and drive home.

Agree. You shouldn't have to fight to get a proper space especially with the weather today. They should let you park near the stadium or right in back of B-L. Hope it works out for you.

If it came off of a scramble, then the officials may have whistled the play before the goal. Even if the puck is free, if the refs don't see it, then the play is dead. That happens pretty often; the attacking team doesn't like it, but those are the rules.

Great game today at Bright-Landry. And congrats to everyone who came out to set a new attendance record (slightly north of 2000 fans). Wish we could draw like that on a more consistent basis.
The game was back and forth with hard skating by both teams. Harvard opened the scoring early when Mary Parker shifted into high gear down the right side and shoveled a backhander five-hole. The Crimson added a power play goal by Michelle Picard on a beautiful passing play between Jo Pucci and Sam Reber. They were patient and kept waiting until Cornell left Picard open just above the left face-off circle. She whistled a wrister over the Cornell goalie's shoulder.
The second period saw some tentative play from Harvard at times mixed in with some late flurries including a breakaway shorthanded by Hilary Crowe who looked like she couldn't make up her mind about where to shoot the puck. Harvard had two or three great opportunities in close but couldn't find the back of the net.
Third period - more of the same. Cornell put more heat on especially at the end when they pulled their goalie. Harvard missed an open net four times before Mary Parker netted her second of the game.
Maschmeyer wasn't particularly tested today as Cornell's shots were mostly from the circles on out. Jenner had two very good chances but otherwise, it wasn't a difficult afternoon.
Cornell played shorthanded today. 14 skaters and two goalies. Jenner seemed like she played the entire game. She double shifted frequently and never looked tired or worn down. It's a tribute to the team that after playing last night, they were able to come back today and give Harvard a run for their money.
Picard was the best player on the ice and Parker wasn't far behind. Both were immense with and without the puck. Picard played heavy minutes and never seemed rattled or unsure of herself. She kept everything in front of her.
Good to see Chuckie Hughes and Scotty Fusco. Scotty's daughter is coming to Harvard next year and the advance scouting report says great speed and on ice vision. Much like her dad. If she has half her dad's skill level, we're in for a treat watching her play.
On to Quinnipiac next Friday. We'll need to win to have a chance at finishing first overall.
