Of course they could always sign him in April of next year. Plenty of guys signed with their drafting team after senior year. Moore, Killorn, etc.
If it were up to me, no, but he doesn't have to reapply, just has to ask to come back. But wouldn't he really be more of an ex-AHL greybeard? (Yes I'm still bitter.)

There is another option. He could return for his senior season and once it is complete (maybe as national champions???
), he can then sign with Nashville for the remainder of the NHL regular season and the playoffs.
I see the Vesey situation as similar to Alex Killorn. When I spoke to the Tampa scouts during Alex's senior season, they projected that he would start in the minors and then be promoted to the big club to play third line center. The NHL lockout worked perfectly for Alex as he was ready for the NHL when they resumed play and he is now a key member of the team. He has his degree and an NHL career.
LeBlanc was never serious about Harvard. I was amazed that admissions saw fit to grant him a space given that he publicly was adamant about playing pro hockey before he graduated. I don't see him returning to get his degree but who knows, stranger things have happened.

If he took a leave of absence, no he would not have to reapply. But if he outright quit with no intent of finishing, I'm not so sure. In fact, I would say probably not.

I hate to say this and I hope I'm wrong but the wheels are starting to fall off the bus. We can't beat anyone good lately and are 2-6 in our last eight. I don't see much hope going forward unless the D gets straightened out and the forwards put more pressure. We have to start converting our chances. I wonder if the BU game sapped us for this weekend. If so, this could get ugly. I really, really hope I'm wrong.

Clearly they concentrated on shutting down Vesey which the did. Malone back but had to leave the game after a hit (lower body) in the 2nd; had to be helped off the ice. Did return for the 3rd but I thought he had lost a step. Bergin also got a ding too but did return.
We are 9-0-1 against Yale since our last win. They have outscored us 9-2 this year. Maybe we should trade a football coach for a hockey coach...

Yale went through similar ugliness a couple of years ago - turned out all right. Not saying this is the same, but Harvard very talented, has the pieces. I remember us getting killed by QU at Ingalls that year. Walked out thinking "I know Yale is better" just didn't know why they weren't showing it. Personally, I was at all 3 Y-H games and I honestly think "Harvard is better". They're just hurt and not playing their best right now. IMHO BU game took something out of them. H showed some jump in their step on only 1 or 2 occasions. Again we'll see. But at the end of last year, this team looked totally legit. Maybe they'll turn it around. Of course, I was positive Yale was going in for the winning TD last year...

Losing to Yale sucks! I hate to say that, but it does. However, the sun rose in the East this morning. Harvard has Brown tonight in what really is a must win game before gearing up for BC next week. With the loss at Yale (if there is even a silver lining), is that there is no way they can look past Brown with BC looming.

I think the reason that Harvard has been snakebit against Yale is mostly Yale's ability to roll four good forechecking lines. Yale may not be the equal talent wise in some matchups, but even the fourth line has the innate ability to just get in the way of players and pucks. Also Yale's D-corps has been doing a great job keeping teams wide when attacking Lyon, who has been stellar and could be the real difference maker for the team. Harvard also seemed to rely on the first line too much, causing them to tire, especially after Tuesday's effort. I mean't to say this earlier in the week, that HVD/BU was the best game I have seen all season.

When Kerfoot and Malone are healthy, it changes the complexion of our lines. Neither was available for the MSG matchup and Malone is hurting even though he was in the lineup last night. Also, not having McNally is akin to Union losing Gostisbere. If Union lost him last year, they don't win the title. McNally quarterbacks the power play and head mans the puck as well as anyone I've seen in the East.
That said, I agree that Yale's forecheck and consistent pressure is something we have failed to deal with over the course of the past couple of seasons. Our counterattack just isn't there and without it, Lyons has basically a stress free evening. One of these days, we will figure it out.

Right now, every game is a must win. Doesn't matter who the opposition is, we have to turn this around starting tonight. Other players have to step up. No excuses. If we can't get it done, then all that we did in the first half will be for naught. Time to suit up the big boy pants.

so i thought the ECAC had helped you guys in scheduling around Beanpot time for the past few years. why the 2 games this weekend? last year you only had the one. tough weekend. better be careful, things seem to be teetering right now for ya.

Wow, our mighty certainly have fallen, and my confidence is really shaken. Pairwise #16 this morning, which is of course out of NCAA contention unless getting in via Lake Placid. And we're on the cusp of missing the first round bye through that route. 7 games remaining, and I think only wins vs. BC and/or Quinnipiac can help the pairwise situation substantially. Still, I am hopeful. We will head in for the Beanpot tomorrow if the T is running.
