Gustavus vs UST

Re: Gustavus vs UST

Also, assuming the west gets 4 teams in, does anyone think that UST will have the four seed rather than Adrian? I think UST getting in may have increased the chances of Adrian being shipped out east (SNC is the west's probable #1 seed and the only western team within 500 miles of Adrian.)

Good point.

Maybe the West can try to avoid the play-ins by putting St. Thomas ahead of Adrian in their regional rankings. Adrian could then fly to SNC as the #4 seed in the West and you could probably get a nice short trip in a 2-3 rematch with Gustavus and St. Thomas in the other Quarter.

Re: Gustavus vs UST

Pending any upsets, I would suspect that UST would travel to CSS and Adrian would travel to SNC....just a hunch.

Makes the most sense, but if SNC wins on Saturday I can't help but think that UST will travel to either GAC or CSS with the winner of that game traveling to play SNC in the quarters. Meanwhile, Adrian is shipped east to play Elmira or Oswego. My gut tells me that the committee would rather not have it be a guarantee that 2 western teams advance to the frozen four...

Only Elmira - according to the NCAA's mileage table Adrian is too far from Oswego - beyond the 500 mile limit.

What I'm hoping for in the West is #1 SNC hosting #4 Adrian and either #2 Gustavus or St. Scholastica hosting #3 St. Thomas, but I could definitely see Adrian sent East. I just hope Gustavus or Scholastica's resume is rock solid in comparison to the other Pool C candidates. It makes me nervous that the East Committee gets a full day to observe everything being done in the West by Saturday night while they wait for their games to end Sunday and come up with their most creative scenario for a possible 8-3. Not with the teams at the top, but playing with the bottom part of the rankings like they have in past years to snag one more Pool C.

Re: Gustavus vs UST

The west should get 5 teams in if SNC wins. It would be a HUGE slap in the face to them if they don't.

STU @ CSS to play GAC

Adrian @ Norbert

The west is really deep this year and they deserve the 5 team draw.

Depth has nothing to do with it. Strength has everything to do with it.

Just like in 2008 when the West was forced to cannibalize itself with Stout and St. Thomas taking St. Norbert to overtime in the post-season, and then SNC slapped the East around in LP when no one gave SNC much of a chance.

Re: Gustavus vs UST

SOS should favor the MIAC and NCHA!

The East has a lot more teams and the bottom feeders are slam dunk wins for most teams. The west, at least the MIAC and NCHA don't really have any slam dunk wins. SMU I guess could be one, but that is it. And if you look at the schedule, GAC and CSS have played chalenging foes.

Exactly. Thank you for proving my point.

Strength got SNC into the tournament and they were the strongest team in the land.

Depth had nothing to do with it.

You haven't been paying attention to NUProf's math lessons have you?

I see the stupidity is starting well before Selection Sunday.

If this were the case the west would get 5 teams in regardless of what SNC does. UWRF would get the Pool A and SNC would get a pool C bumping either Scholastica or Gustavus. The 5 team scenario isn't happening, but I'm just saying.
