Hindsight is pretty cool.
BP stock plummeted when news of this hit. I bet even a few people thought their holdings would be ravaged with lawsuits and charges. It hit a share price at a low 27 $/ share and is now sitting at roughly 46 $/ share. If you were chipper back in june, you could have turned 10,000 dollars into 17,000 $ before taxes.
The odd thing is that the stock price was lower when the net revenue was better. Now their net revenue was negative ( probably due to a cost of business that was abnormally high this year) their share price is actually higher! However, their gross was better than in 2009, so maybe speculators feel they will continue to earn their way out of this hole they dug.
Glad to hear things cleaned up. I seem to recall hearing the big oil spill in the middle east worked out as well. Unfortunately with oil demand and prices going up, it seems big companies will pursue more of these types of projects and continue to be plagued with the risks of similar incidents.

I found it positively hilarious that the media brought up the anniversary of the event when they didn't even start covering for six weeks. I mean, I know you have a president to protect, I know BP was a big contributor, but really? Six weeks?
edit: or was it six weeks until the president had anything to say about it... I forget which.
