Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

The cafeteria/convenience store downstairs...

Checking my bank balance this morning, I discovered a charge on my check card from today. Ummm... haven't been down there today. So, I went to see what happened. What I gathered is that they were running through charges that declined or didn't take from a couple weeks ago. Fine. But the charge I have from the time period where they were manually entering in the data has been accounted for. They even showed me the sheet from which they were working and my number and the associated charge isn't on there! I'm very meticulous with my bank records, so I know when something has been placed on the card and when it clears.

Called my bank and there's not much they can do at this point, but I can get dispute resolution paperwork once it has cleared. I'll head back down there later to see if we can't get this figured out, but I don't think I'll be back again unless I have cash.

People who can't correctly use the self checkout at grocery stores need to be culled from the herd! Illegals who can't speak English can use them but apparently the average dipstick buying cantaloupe can't! It amazes me everytime...

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Yesterday at work I was handing out samples of cocoa roasted almonds in souffle cups, and there were people who kept asking me "do I just take one almond or the whole cup?"

do they have bar codes on cantaloupes?:D

I always try to use them but once in a while you get one that is stuck in the 'remove item from bagging area' loop and you want to pour your drain cleaner into it.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Went to Vegas for a bachelor party. A friend of mine ended up going the same weekend with a different group of people. Realized this months ago, we were pumped. Finally meeting up together to do some damage and then being blown off by them for some person they just met that day grinds my gears. Then the other person bolting when my friend doesn't feel well so I have to pretty much carry the person that burned me halfway down the strip at 6:00am. Then walk another four miles to my hotel.

Yee. Haw.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Cub has some issue with scanning your credit card before hitting "electronic payment" Gets caught in a loop there as well.

I never have this problem when I write checks.

I thought there were taxis in Vegas.

Labor disputes.

Settling in for a nasty one here at work that we're caught up in (Operators union is picketing, technicians union (that we're a part of) is supportive of the Operators union, and plus there wouldn't be work for anyone). I fear for my job if it drags on past one month... :(

There are, didn't feel like spending the money on one with a few of the bills we ended up with that night. Also, they don't like picking up anyone one that looks like they are about to fall over.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Unless you go to a strip club, from what I hear. The strip club takes the taxi's receipts at the end of thier shift and reimburses them, I believe.

I heard some of them do as well. We weren't at one that night though, so no help there.

It was a hike, Mirage - Bally's - Mirage - Bally's - hotel a mile east of the MGM on Tropicana Ave. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the friend forgot their phone at the Mirage somewhere, that is why we did that twice. No luck getting it back, which was expected.

Some of the less...legitimate places have a deal with the taxi drivers - $50 per head you bring to our door, we don't care what you gotta do to get them here.

NEVER get in a taxi that is parked on the Strip. Odds are he's just waiting for a carload of marks to dump off at the strip club. It's illegal for taxis to stop on the Strip in the first place. Go to the nearest hotel, and odds are there's a legitimate taxi pickup area out front.

People in grocery stores who use their shopping cart like a freakin' walker. Worse yet, while talking on their cell phone.

Bingo. Right outside the main entrance/exit, where the valet service is going on as well.

First time I was there we got a cabbie pulled over. He picked us up in an area he wasn't supposed to. Didn't take us to a strip club though.

At times for some of us, it is either that (minus the cell phone) or not eat. Though when I am moving that slow, I try to stay to the side of the aisle and out of everyone's way. (and, no, I am not going to take the scooter thingy as long as I can still walk)
