Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Tried to order "The Stoned Age" (basically a B-movie "Dazed And Confused") off of Amazon. After it shipped, realized that I accidentally ordered "NATIONAL LAMPOON'S The Stoned Age" which is something you couldn't pay me to watch. Hope returning it is as easy as they say it is. Grrrrrr.

The Stoned Age was awesome! :D

The Stoned Age was awesome! :D

I know! That's why it's grinding my gears! And now Amazon is saying they sent the real "The Stoned Age" to me, and my email account is saying Amazon sent "National Lampoon's The Stoned Age." ARGH! I may have to open the stupid box up. (insert peanut gallery quote here).

Edit: A brief interlude...the trailer...

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Last night, my boss calls me and tells me not to come in today. This morning at 11 AM I get another phone call asking if I can come in; I said no.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Finding out that I was supposed to attend an orientation for culinary school after it happened grinds my gears. Today was the first day of class, and as I'm walking into the building at 7:50 AM, I kept getting asked about this orientation, and no one told me. Good thing I brought my uniform, otherwise I'd have been sent home.

Birds.

Specifically, the birds that are about 10 times louder at 4 am than they are the rest of the day. It's like I live in an aviary. Where do they all come from and why do they gather directly outside my bedroom window? Walking outside at 4 am is like walking through a jungle with all the noise.

There is one in particlular that bothers me all day. Who who who whoooooooooooooooooooo. SHUT UP. (I prefer silent nature :p)

It would be much better if they waited until, say, 6 am to be loud.

Or maybe I just need another cup of coffee.

I work at our offsite location every other week. It's about 2 miles away from our main location, but anywhere from a 3-10 minute drive depending on traffic (specifically how long it takes to find an opening in traffic to make a left turn; no lights near that intersection to take advantage of).

Get done today at offsite at 5:40. My shift normally ends at 6 when I work at offsite. Boss, knowing he has to limit manhours, actually made me drive to the main building to work until 6. Seriously? Make the drive (which today was 10 minutes) to do a few more minutes of work that didn't make that much of a difference? Ugh.

Standby. Airports. My family.

Risks of the buddy pass. You knew the risks. Sorry.

Yes, I've done the buddy pass thing before. Except I won. First row, even, which usually has extra legroom! :D

See, my aunt never used them really, so she was unaware of how bad it would really be; especially when there's a dozen of us.

Two years ago my house was under attack virtually every morning around 6am by a woodpecker. I have a townhouse, middle unit, where the lower level exterior is brick and the upper level is cedar - so the only possible place it could attack was my bedroom. Holy crap, did that ever wake me up.

Did you by chance send them to camp outside of our window??? :p

Birds in the morning - bats at night  The joy of country living.

At least the darned <strike>peckerhead</strike> woodpecker that terrorized us three summers back has not returned. What a mess he made of the door frames and the roof over our deck.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Sports Parents are ****ing me off right now...

At the moment, there is quite the s*it storm regarding baseball bats and the materials they are made out of... Each sanctioning body/organization has their own take on this and is ruling accordingly... So what's happening?

The parents know that there is a big deal going on with bats right now... They know that there are bans/limitations being put in place... So instead of parents contacting Little Timmy and Tommy's baseball league that they play in, they are coming into our store looking for baseball bats and the regulations... When they ask us what Timmy's league has for rules on bats and we don't know, we get the riot act read to us... I mean, our store only works with 37 different baseball/softball leagues in the area... I'll get right to work on memorizing 37 different sets of rules and being able to recall them entirely with pinpoint accuracy on cue

Just another example of how ignorant/lazy society has become...

And if they do know what the rules for Little Timmy's league are, they want to know what the 'hottest' bat is, right?

Oh, of course... What's even funnier is their reaction when I tell them that the "Hot" bats are $250-300... It's like Pawn Stars, but reversed :D

Me: The hot bat right now is either the Easton Omen or DiMarini CF4... They are $300 each
Them: Well, I want a good bat for Timmy, but that is too much... What's the next best bat?
Me: We have the Easton Surge XXL or the DiMarini VooDoo at $150 or $200 respectively...
Them: That's still too much. What's next in line?

And this continues till I am down to the $40-60 bats :D

And how poor the communication is in the leagues. Lil had friends whose parents bought those 200-300$ bats so their kid could be a sooper stah! The kids aren't making the JV team but they have awesome credit card debt.
