Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Packers on the cover of Sports Illustrated

By Don Walker of the Journal Sentinel

The undefeated Green Bay Packers will be on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week.

The cover will be distributed nationally with the exception of Missouri, which is getting a cover featuring the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.

An SI spokesman said the cover story was written by Tim Layden. Layden made contact with all of the receivers Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has thrown to in his entire career.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Our best defense is Aaron Rodgers. Unfortunately, he scores touchdowns just too darn fast. :)

True.

If anything does them in, it will be their defense's "inability" to get off the field against above average teams. In the few games I have watched this season, it seems like decent quarterbacks just pick the defensive backfield apart. It certainly would concern me if I was coaching.

Packers fans force Chargers' silent count (!)

SAN DIEGO -- As they tried to tie the game late in the fourth quarter Sunday, the San Diego Chargers' offense went to a silent count.

At home.

Such was the impact of a large and quite loud contingent of Green Bay Packers fans who descended on Qualcomm Stadium and played a legitimate role in their team's 45-38 victory over the Chargers.

"Today did feel like a home game," tight end Jermichael Finley said. "The Pack Nation showed their support here in [California]. It was crazy. It was just Lambeau in the West."

A number of factors went into what conservative estimates suggested was 25,000 Packers fans in the stadium. (If you told me it was 35,000, I would believe you.)

Vikings should be a tough game this week. We only beat them by 6 points and they've had a bye week to <s>get arrested</s> prepare for the game. Hopefully, the defense wakes up by then.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

10-0 but only one game ahead of the 49ers for home field, 3 in front of da Bears and Lions, and looked beatable today. Here's what they have left:

Nov. 24 at DETROIT LIONS (7-3)
Dec. 4 at NEW YORK GIANTS (6-3)
Dec. 11 OAKLAND RAIDERS (6-4)
Dec. 18 at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (4-5)
Dec. 25 CHICAGO BEARS (7-3)
Jan. 1 DETROIT LIONS (7-3)

D looked pretty sad on the Blount run. Doesn't sound like the Starks injury is serious - more info will be released tomorrow. Neal is back (for the time being).

Absolutely atrocious defense on that Blount TD. Wow. No reason to think that the defense won't give away a game at some point. Hopefully it's in the regular season and not afterwards.

Its amazing how good the offense is such that this could be considered an off day for them and they still got a lot done.

I think we'll lose on of the next two games. Probably Thanksgiving vs the Lions. That's always a tough game - they often beat us on Thanksgiving even if they're terrible. Maybe another vs Bears and that should be it. Could run the table, but I'm not counting on it.

Glad I was wrong this week. :) Keep it rolling, boys!

Walden released on bond

Zakowski indicated Monday that the accuser's account of the incident had changed. According to him, she said she hit Walden first and that he was defending himself. The accuser, Walden's live-in girlfriend, received four stitches to her forehead at a hospital after hitting her head on the bedpost and also injured her thumb, he said.

"The question is really, who is the primary physical aggressor," Zakowski said to reporters afterward. "If this is a case where it's an argument where she struck him and he pushed her away, there's no charge. If it's a case where they're arguing and he pushes her, initiates the contact and that causes injury then it's a different situation. That's what we have to try to piece together from these varying statements that were given to law enforcement as well as to the hospital."

Pardon the hyperbole, but I don't care if she is hitting you with an bat. You are a professional football player and are easily fifty times stronger than her and ninety-nine percent of the female population. Be a real man and walk away.
