Grand Unified Election Thread 2: What is the difference between Biden and Dump?

DC statehood is tricky because most plans involve shrinking the district to encompass the capitol, white house, and mall area and then using the rest of DC to make a new state. The problem is the 23rd amendment would give this district 3 electoral votes. Too hard to rectify that.

PR statehood is more doable -- at least 3 Republican senators (Rubio, Scott, and Cruz) support it. What are the chances for PR statehood? Mitch would probably filibuster it, right?

The Georgia official (R) who is giving the updates is not holding back in why he thinks this went the way it did :^o

Spoilers: Trump.

That's part of the problem.

Another part is the "Crazed Leftists" like Bernie and AOC aren't either. They're pragmatic, not ideological. Their "extremism" is to the right of the major Center-Left parties in every other democracy expect maybe Israel.

The media has tried nail the Overton Window shut at FDR (Left) to Reagan (Center) to John Birch Society (Right). I'm sure is it only a weird coincidence that they are controlled by Plutes who are enriched by restriction of permissible ideas.

Absolutely.

I think the Filibuster gets retired in the next couple years.

As to Peurto Rico, the island vacillates between wanting to become a state or breaking away from the US entirely. I don't really know which would be better for them.

If we need to run Manchins to gut Collins and Murkowski, by all means let's.

Without the incumbent advantage Collins had, I don't think the GOP holds onto that seat in Maine. No one new coming up through the Maine GOP even pretends to be a New England moderate Republican anymore. The last guy they ran against Angus King got 35% of the vote. Susan is the last of her kind. I think in 6 years, Susan's seat goes to Jared Golden.

Next republican to be on a statewide ballot will likely be LePage again -- he's moved back from Florida with the intention of running against Janet Mills. We'll see how that goes. He's never gotten a majority of the votes in an election, but because of an issue with the Maine constitution we still can't use Ranked Choice Voting for that election, so there is a definite chance for a green party spoiler.

Spoilers: Trump.

That was the point 538 tacitly made with that amazing scatter plot showing Ossoff and Warnock tracked Biden perfectly except with the tiniest offset along the entire distribution. That indicates some suppression of Republican enthusiasm that transcended every demographic, region, and interest group. What could possibly have made a few Republicans, universally across all other characteristics, stay home, just because they were Republicans?

Goopers are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation in regards to Chump. He's certainly good for Dem turnout, but there's nobody else on the right who would have won 74 million votes for Republicans. Not a corporate stiff like Kasich or Jebbers! Not beltway pundit darling Nikki Haley. Not Chump's idiot kids. Nobody can be reasonably expected to keep up that cult like following. Will be interesting, and not necessarily in a good way, to see where this goes.

Yes. : - p

We should not kill the filibuster until we have fixed the Senate.

Fixing the Senate means adding DC, maybe PR, maybe all those slave states we keep as air strips in the Pacific, and spitting CA (carefully). We can't combine states, but the very existence of absurd states like ND, SD, WY, MT, and ID reinforces that states are created as political actions, not because of some sort of pure motivation.

The EC goes from a bug to a feature if we flip TX. We can't plausibly blow it up, so instead win TX and basically end the GOP's shot at the Presidency for a generation until they let white supremacy go.

Court expansion is what we most need to do, and not half-ash but full-on. 6 will be just as painful as 1. But there's only one way to do that, and that's to go to Manchin and say "We know this will cost you your job, so: name your price! You have a golden ticket. Name it."

Lawyers for Detroit have asked a federal judge to refer Sidney Powell, Lin Wood and the rest of the “Kraken” team for disbarment proceedings.

A hard rain's gonna fall. We cannot let a coup attempt go unpunished or the Nazis will just keep trying.

I don't think there would have had to be 74 million of them turn out because without Trump as part of this process, Biden or whoever on the Dem side wouldn't have gotten 85 million. I just don't think the need or desire for massive turnout would have been there on either side.

Gabriel Sterling (R), Georgia Secretary of State.

brad raffensperger is the Georgia Secretary of State.

Gabriel Sterling works for the SoS office and is "Voting Systems Implementation Manager" (and according to Linked in, now also COO/CFO of the office of the Secretary of State)

Thanks for the correction. I was just going by the graphic on TV.

In any event, Cleveland Rocks!

Im surprised they are waiting till afternoon to do the EC count. With objections this process could take upwards of 15 hours.

It could take 50 hours, if they object to every state Biden won.

It could take 100, if they object to every state.
