Grand Unified Election Thread 2: What is the difference between Biden and Dump?

I am 100% confident that a seemingly shady character like Hunter Biden did some likely shady stuff, but a couple of key points:

• I doubt very strongly that it would ever even be noticed if Joe Biden were not President-elect, or that the DOJ would ever have investigated if Trump weren't the most petty human being alive.
• I just don't even care.

When Biden is sworn in, his new AG will likely bury or broom the investigation in a manner that wraps it up and puts it to bed, where it belongs. This is much ado about nothing.

I'm pretty certain Joe Biden won't do that, coming off the last four years. He'll likely let it play out with little or no comment.

One thing people have to remember is this. We now have a newly awakened, and greatly enlarged, "press." There will still be the collateral Trump matters for them to chew on after January, but they aren't just going to disappear or go dormant. They'll need to be fed.

thats exactly what the GOP wants. New AG brooms it and Gym Jordan has another thing to bleat about.

Federal judges do not appoint the president in this country. One wonders why the plaintiffs came to federal court and asked a federal judge to do so. After a week of sometimes odd and often harried litigation, the court is no closer to answering the “why.” But this federal court has no authority or jurisdiction to grant the relief the remaining plaintiff seeks. The court will dismiss the case.

Too bad the Supremes couldn't figure this out in Bush v. Gore.

Oh, certainly. I wouldn't be as confident as the press has. Roberts is safe -- he doesn't want to go down as Taney II. But there are 4 votes on SCOTUS (Thomas, Barrett, Alito, Drunky McRapist) to do any fascist coup. It comes down to Gorsuch. Is he an American or a Republican?

Small problem with allowing a fascist coup- it makes the SCOTUS irrelevant, other than rubber stamping the holy ruler.

Even the Parler crowd is getting sick of it...I think the laptop fiasco and the lack of follow up from even the OANNs of the world killed it. Trump bringing the one partner to the debates kept it alive another day or so but it fizzled fast.

I don't doubt there is something shady in Hunter Biden's taxes because I bet if the IRS looked there would be shadiness in 70% of people's taxes. He will pay a fine and it will have cost way more to investigate than they will get from him.

How is it lose-lose? If Hunter screwed up his taxes it is a non-story. Unless he went full Trump there is nothing to the story for the Press to care about. Plus, unlike Trump, Hunter is being pretty open about it which is the last thing the media wants. The Biden's don't subscribe to the Trump mantras of "Ignore It And It Will Go Away" and "All Publicity Is Good Publicity".

The only way to lose is to do what Trump did...and Biden aint doing any of that. The story is defused because Hunter admitted it BEFORE it became a story and Joe won't cover it up.

I think some people are trying to see a pattern in the madness and there isnt any. The media is juiced up but they are looking for normal crap not Trump level stuff. As long as Joe doesn't do anything stupid there isnt going to be the daily CNN tickers about controversies. It is going to be Politico level crap about how [insert Dem here] is butthurt he didn't get an appointment or how Rahm Emmanuel is positioning himself for some job he won't get. Unlike Trump (who was really only friends with NY Papers) Biden is a known commodity with the Access Journalists so he will be treated better. (by better I mean normal...as in he will be dealt with like Obama not Trump who antagonized and attacked)

You are smarter than that. The two issues are not the same and a legal argument can be made that Bush v. Gore was the correct decision based on the circumstances. (argument /= the right decision) The Gore team screwed up quite a bit of that case including the recount.

No it doesn't. They just refused to hear the Pennsylvania case with no dissent. (which was brought by Alito specifically so they could shoot it down) You say these things but you don't have actual facts to back it up. You need to venture away from TPM and read some law based blogs. Read what Marc Elias has to say about it and other lawyers who cover this stuff.

At best they have 2, and in reality they have none. (the two would be Thomas and Kavanaugh) If they couldn't get a dissent for the last case they aren't getting 4 for a case that is a joke.

Their team isnt the GOP...it is the Plutes. The Plutes don't want a coup, that gets in the way of their grift. They also don't want Trump because he shows the world everything they do and brags about it. They want someone who will stand in front of cameras and allow people to believe they have rights and they are safe while in truth the rich are stealing everything that isnt nailed down behind them.

The Rich and Powerful dont care about which "side" wins...they care if THEY win. The only way they lose is if people wake up to what is happening. Trump makes that happen. Biden, Clinton and 3/4 of the the GOP before Trump did not. They want a figurehead...not someone who shines a light on their malfeasances. Nothing Biden does will hurt them even if he makes an effort to do so. Everything Trump does hurts them because people see the man behind the curtain and they get angry.
