The lady on Fox said she is "upset there was universal voting".

What does that even mean?

Also, I decided to watch because they might call this on Fox & Friends. Holy moly they're... off the deep end there.

Saw a report that Fox has told their on-air talent to not refer to Biden as President-elect after it's called. Wow.

That is pathetic. Fox is a HUGE problem. I hope some of the on-air talent revolts over it like Shepherd Smith did.

Pardon himself for what? Unless it was for something that he did prior to being president, there's nothing that he's been charged and convicted with while being president. So whatever happens after Jan 20 would not include a self pardon.

Same for Giuli- he's not been charged with anything, so any pardon would be pretty darned empty.

The only pardons that could even be useful would be to his buds who got to fall on the sword with the ruskies.

I don't think it matters whether he (or anyone he pardons) has actually been charged yet, or even if there is an investigation. I think he could just pardon someone for any crime against federal law committed up until the date of the pardon. In fact, I think Ford did that for Nixon.

yeah, Ford pardoned Nixon for "any crimes he may have committed as President of the United States" or something like that

Here is the text:

By the President of the United States of America a Proclamation

Richard Nixon became the thirty-seventh President of the United States on January 20, 1969 and was reelected in 1972 for a second term by the electors of forty-nine of the fifty states. His term in office continued until his resignation on August 9, 1974.

Pursuant to resolutions of the House of Representatives, its Committee on the Judiciary conducted an inquiry and investigation on the impeachment of the President extending over more than eight months. The hearings of the Committee and its deliberations, which received wide national publicity over television, radio, and in printed media, resulted in votes adverse to Richard Nixon on recommended Articles of Impeachment.

As a result of certain acts or omissions occurring before his resignation from the Office of President, Richard Nixon has become liable to possible indictment and trial for offenses against the United States. Whether or not he shall be so prosecuted depends on findings of the appropriate grand jury and on the discretion of the authorized prosecutor. Should an indictment ensue, the accused shall then be entitled to a fair trial by an impartial jury, as guaranteed to every individual by the Constitution.

It is believed that a trial of Richard Nixon, if it became necessary, could not fairly begin until a year or more has elapsed. In the meantime, the tranquility to which this nation has been restored by the events of recent weeks could be irreparably lost by the prospects of bringing to trial a former President of the United States. The prospects of such trial will cause prolonged and divisive debate over the propriety of exposing to further punishment and degradation a man who has already paid the unprecedented penalty of relinquishing the highest elective office of the United States.

Now, THEREFORE, I, GERALD R. FORD, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighth day of September, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and seventy-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and ninety-ninth.

GERALD R. FORD

I don't think getting out the vote was the issue this time. Part of the problem is that as much "support" as there was for Biden, there was too much focus on getting rid of Trump. While I 100% understand that sentiment and am on board with it, that message doesn't resonate with everyone. The DNC needs better leadership, the Dems need newer voices in Congress, and they need better candidates running for POTUS that are ready for the job.

getting out the vote WILL be the issue for the GA senate run offs. Trump won't be on the ballot, and it's not like he would ever campaign for anyone but himself. Not all of his cult members are going to show up to vote for a senate run off. These are winnable if Democrats don't blow it off like they usually do for run offs.

Exactly.

Stacey Abrams will save us. She's Georgian and she's ours.

The money that pours in will be insane. It's too bad it won't go to GA but to NYC lawyers. They could run the state for a century on it.

Trump can pardon himself all day long but are there not other serious items at large from before he entered the White House?

I really hope -- and I know I'm being massively naïve here -- that when it's obvious this is over and done with, the top R congresspeople have a meeting with Trump and tell him, "Concede and shut up or we will 25th Amendment you." Trump has a big enough ego to understand what that means to his legacy.
