Grand unified 2020 election thread

I wonder how many Judges Turtle Boy will put through in the lame duck? I'm guessing all of them. I bet we have a ton of "surprise" retirements so they can get in as many 25 year olds with no experience as they can to lifelong positions.

I think for the most part they got the base. Will have to wait for the post electorate breakdown, but it seems they didn't get that on the fence "Reagan democrat" to abandon Donnie.

The ones the Lincoln Project was supposed to appeal to.

Well then we werent really wasting money or time on that...except the people who donated to LP. (I did not) I dont think a lot of people trusted them because they knew they were going to flip as soon as it made sense.

The math isnt good for us if that is the case.

And I am going to re-iterate a point I made in 2016...if there are marginalized groups who, without any form of intimidation or suppression, chose to not vote in an election where one side is literally fighting to protect them then my bleeding heart doesn't really bleed much more for them. For the most part GOP control doesnt hurt me (leave the Jew stuff out for now) I am a White Male Suburbanite with a good education and well paying job. (which of course could change) I will be fine. I am fighting for them. But if they choose to sit out why the heck should I care? It is one thing to fight the enemy, but if the people you protect as sabotaging you in that pursuit maybe they dont want to be helped.

I am not saying that happened and I am not calling out anyone specifically. (I do have some examples but they are not for public consumption) Just saying if we hear reports that [insert Dem Candidate] lost because [insert demographic here] underwhelmed or depressed their turnout then they have made their voice heard. They have exercised their right and I defend that but then I choose to care more for people who want to be part of the solution. Elections have consequences.

AZ is still making me nervous

Per nate silver:

too close to call still

Not just late-arriving mail left though:

The Arizona Republic surveyed county recorders and estimates that 600,000 ballots remain to be counted in Arizona. A full 450,000 of those ballots are in Maricopa County (Phoenix) and break down as follows: 248,000 early ballots (which in Arizona includes both mail-in and in-person votes) that arrived on Monday or Tuesday, 160,000-180,000 mail-in ballots dropped off on Election Day and 29,000 provisional ballots. Maricopa expects to release two batches of results tonight: one at 9 p.m. Eastern and one sometime after 12:30 a.m. Eastern.

I’m less pessimistic about the Senate because Republicans are going to immolate themselves on health care. The minute SCOTUS tosses out pre-existing condition coverage then it’s on, because with a deadlocked Congress coming there won’t be anything done about before 2022.

Lincoln Project?
They're a bunch of Rockefeller Rs in "never Trump" guise.
They'll overboard you as soon as you are no longer a useful means to their ends.

We'll see. I have no faith in this electorate to vote.

Apparently the Trump campaign has not been allowed to observe the count? That's what the tweet indicates.

People, people, don't give the easy stuff like that.

I'm saying unless it's a real and legitimate issue (like not following state or federal law in counting) let it go. (Like I've said: MI and WI are gone and I don't see Trump pulling the GA/NC/PA/AZ (or NV) quad.)

Move on to 2022.

That'll be fun.

@DrJasonJohnson
Y'all America is a country driven in large part by anti-black white supremacy. Trump's improvement in the wake of economic disaster and failed #COVID19 management should forever end any suggestion that white votes are motivated by economic angst #ElectionNight

This is true. The "Tea Party" was a sham.

There's nothing "fun" about any of this.

For those of us that are mathematically challenged this means...

Basically it means that Peters would need to UNDERPERFORM the existing results by 5.3% But he shouldn't given where they're from and the fact that the ballots were mail-in. Most likely those skew D.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Truer today than it ever was.

Not just late-arriving mail left though:

Again...super punchy.

I would assume that if that is true that is a good sign. (and also why they have been stuck around the same percentage forever)

The Michigan suit makes no sense. Last I checked no one was stopping anyone from watching the counts they had tons last night doing it. Has the Trump Campaign even tried?
