Re: Graduates on the Cup

Chelios attended the University of Wisconsin for two years before he turned pro. Did he graduate from Wisconsin or just attend?

Re: Graduates on the Cup

Davis Drewiske (Wisconsin) got his name on the cup with the Kings last year.

Pretty sure Hill, Richter, Driver, Chelios and Skille don't fit the bill unless they went back to school later.

For St. Lawrence

Bill Torrey (4)
Ray Shero (2)
Mike Keenan (1)
Rich Peverley (1)

Bollig could add his name to the list if he sees action, or Peverley could get his second.

Edit: Well, Bollig didn't graduate, I suppose. Unless he has since finished up his degree via other means.

Re: Graduates on the Cup

I goofed, and I'm surprised I wasn't called on it. A hockey player may value being inducted into the [NHL] Hall of Fame more than getting his name on the Cup. The Hall of Fame list is shorter and at the same time more inclusive of individual talent. Which American hockey colleges/universities (any division) can claim the most GRADUATES (vs. attendees) in the Hall of Fame? This question strays from the original post, but the list won't be very long or distracting.

Re: Graduates on the Cup

I'll play. Off the top of my head...
Rob Scuderi, Boston College (1997-2001), 2001 NCAA Champion, 2009 Pittsburgh Penquins Stanley Cup, 2012 LA Kings Stanley Cup
Brian Gionta, Boston College (1997-2001), 2001 NCAA Champion, 2003 New Jersey Devils Stanley Cup

I think Orpik was on that 2001 NCAA champ team, too and played on the 09 Penguins Cup winner.

He was, but he left after his junior year. He, Kolanos (jr) and Kobasew (fr) all bolted in the summer of 2001.
Don't know if any of these guys got their degree.

I tried to find the graduate vs. attendee status of Scuderi and Gionta at B.C. The best I could do was they played hockey for BC four years and they attended BC four years.

Re: Graduates on the Cup

Joel Otto:

4 years Bemidji State, D-II National Champ '84 (31-0-0)
1989 Calgary Flames Cup Winner

Re: Graduates on the Cup

Vermont:

Graduated, all members of Class of '97: Tim Thomas (Bruins), Martin St. Louis (Lightning), Eric Perrin (Lightning)

Not certain: John LeClair '91 (Canadiens); he signed right after senior season one semester short of graduation; don't know if he later finished degree

Attended: Patrick Sharp (Blackhawks); he signed after sophomore year; now he and Viktor Stalberg (signed after junior season) going for the Cup.
