Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

Re: Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

Can't complain about that then.

In all honesty, I am almost never in Downtown. Closest I get is the North Loop or St. Anthony Main. But, I am pretty sure there are a lot of places. Many are clubs though. Big reason I am not around there often.

Re: Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

I give you credit for singlehandedly trying to stir this up, but I just don't think they care. It's unfortunate coz it feels like just another series at Mankato or SCSU or some other crappy team across the river.

I know just what they need....thinner baby!!!!!!!!. It makes ALL your problems go away, for awhile anyway, unless you don't stop drinking it, then all your problems do go away. I ordered 10 55 gallon drums before the season started, just in case. Obviously I won't be needing them this year, so I'd be more than happy to meet some rodent fans in LaCrosse (no way in heck am I setting foot again in Rodentsota) and sell them to you for my cost plus 12584%. It's still cheaper than by the gallon from Wallyworld. YOU NEED IT BAD.

Whats the bar sitiuation like down by the Target Center for pre-game?

There are a bunch of bars down there, yeah, there are clubs too, but pre-game won't be a problem with that. Along first ave. there are bars every block, Champs is a sports a couple blocks from the TC, we went to the Loon last night, which is a block from the TC, Hooters and the Hard Rock are right across the street from the arena. I think even the bars like Sneaky Pete's are more laid back and in sports bar mode during pre-game.

Re: Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

Friday’s game is first hockey game at Target Center since March 18, 2000

So what the hell was that I went to last night at the Target Center? Sure looked like two hockey games!
Did you notice that they had brand new boards in there? I wonder if they are planning on having hockey at the Target Center more often going forward, since they have already gone out and bought new boards. It doesn't seem like it would be worth it for just 2 nights of hockey.

Re: Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

Bingo. If we had the same standards for what makes a lake as Wisconsin, we would have darn near 20,000.

No surprise that football was talked about more in that rant than anything else. Perfect.

If we wanna talk football... how many national championships do you guys have? And how many do we have? Oh yeah, that's right...

I did. They are already scheduling the semi-finals for 2AA and 6AA next year. Instead of 2 games each at BIG and Braemar they're doing a quadruple-header of games on that Saturday at Target. I don't know what else they have planned - maybe bid on NCAA Regionals?

I was also corrected on the ice. Others have said it was getting bad toward the end of each period and needed work on the corners often. I hadn't noticed that.:o If so I hope it's better by tomorrow night (takes a while for an ice surface to "settle" and be stable after you put it down).

We'll take it. Didn't you read the popcorn box? It's delicious, crisp, and fresh!

No way is that true. IMHO football is life over there and hockey is an afterthought. Exactly the opposite on this side of the state line.

Cub fans like to point to their 1909(or whatever) World Series Title also. Nicely done by the football team(s) that you never saw play.

Sorry, still don't buy it. For the dreded years I spent living in the evil state to our east, even the few knowledgable, passionate hockey fans I came across dropped everything for football. I think you're just not seeing it.

There are a lot of options; Champs, Hooters, Hard Rock, Gluek's, JD Hoyts, NBA City(inside Target Center), O'Donovan's, Bar 508, Rosen's, Murray's and many more. Lone Tree/Annex has free drinks on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30-10:30.
