Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

Re: Gophers-Badgers: Not Good Enough for Mariucci

The BADgers just don't have the depth to dethrone DU.
I think they do. The Badgers managed to take 3 points from DU earlier this season, theres no reason they cant beat them again.
The game against the rodents on Sunday meant nothing, Bucky was merely trying to stay healthy going into the playoffs.
Being the rodents again would have proven nothing, but if one of the key players had gotten injured it could have seriously hurt the UW's chances in the post season.
Besides, you guys scored 6 goals on Bennett; which isnt exactly something to brag about. Bennett isnt exactly the best goalie in the world.

Oh it meant everything. Even ask Gopher fans.

This was such a big loss though, late in the season momentum is crucial. It reminded me of the sioux loss in Minnesota that took them 5 games to recover from. Especially their goalie, he was broke for a while.

See above.

Some points:

1.) I never said that the Badgers didn't beat some good teams this season.

2.) 3 pt weekends do not exist in the NCAA tournament.

3.) Mistakes are magnified in the NCAA tournament, teams that play a complete game minimize the mistakes that they make.

4.) You can win when you don't play a complete game, but you seldom lose when you do play a complete game. Thus, just because you win does not mean that you played a complete game.

IDK about that, i'v seen some goalies steel some NCAA tournament games in recent years with less then great performances from the guys in front of them... As a badger fan that play of out defense in recent weeks is what concerns me most, we have seem big +/- ratings drop and our goals allowed go up and everyone wants to put it on the goalies. I don't think the difference is the goalies, they have both been slightly above average but the play of the guys in front of them has dropped a tad. Something I'm sure will get worked on and fixed before St Paul and the NCAA tournament., eaves is kinda known for fixing that sort of thing come playoff time and having a good defensive team come NCAA time.

Also i could help but laugh to hear the gopher announcers, who i have nothing against try to paint the badgers with the TRAP" label again. haha Wisconsin is an NHL style team, nothing different. Just because the forwards back check hard and get back into the play doesn't mean the team plays a trap. UNREAL!!! The UW trap has been gone for a few years now and has been replaced by 2 way forwards... The Wooger should know this by now... man i hate the fact that FS wisconsin is to cheep to send our own guys to do that game...

Which of my 4 points are you disagreeing with? Because none of them have anything to do with having or running into a hot goalie.

If UW's D improves, it means that they are making fewer mistakes. Which is point #3, hmm...

I agree with all of those points. And none of them proves that UW doesn't have a good chance to win the NCAA title.
