Flag, your computer is also a "spy machine". And if you think you're being clever using Tor or a VPN tunnel, you aren't.

You're also assuming the thing remains networked in some way. One could have zero connection whatsoever. Think Battlestar Galactica.

Clearly, you're in no way connected to the internet, evidenced by your posts here. If you're moving data to/from the machine via a USB fob, you're not going to have a truly gapped PC.

Once again, assumptions. You assume I have only one computer, and you assume that I transfer data on USB sticks.

I didn't make an assumption of only a single computer, thus the USB data transfer comment.

The only method to safely transfer data to a gapped PC is either manually transcribing the data or using an OCR program. Every other option leaves your "gapped" PC vulnerable: your tin hat machine's tin hat will have leaked.

Today the President said in relation to Cuba;
@FoxNews: Pres. Obama on #Cuba: “We are not in the business of regime change.” http://twitter.com/FoxNews/status/587031235752370176/photo/1

Meanwhile, the former rulers of Libya, Egypt and Syria are wondering "when was the reset?"
Uh, huh. Meanwhile Obama reminds everyone why he's President and John McCain and Mitt Romney are not.

“When I hear some, like Senator McCain recently, suggest that our Secretary of State, John Kerry, who served in the United States Senate, a Vietnam veteran, who’s provided exemplary service to this nation, is somehow less trustworthy in the interpretation of what’s in a political agreement than the Supreme Leader of Iran – that’s an indication of the degree to which partisanship has crossed all boundaries. And we’re seeing this again and again. We saw it with the letter by the 47 senators who communicated directly to the Supreme Leader of Iran – the person that they say can’t be trusted at all – warning him not to trust the United States government.

“We have Mitch McConnell trying to tell the world, ‘Oh, don’t have confidence in the U.S. government’s abilities to fulfill any climate change pledge that we might make.’ And now we have a senator suggesting that our Secretary of State is purposely misinterpreting the deal and giving the Supreme Leader of Iran the benefit of the doubt in the interpretations.”

The reset happened when the election campaigning started. To quote The American President: "I was too busy trying to keep my job that I forgot to do my job."

The most effective ad the Dems can run is actual GOP video. Every time they open their mouths, GOP leadership shows they're unfit to govern.

I agree. The Gaffe machine they have over there is off the charts. It's almost like they can't help themselves.

It's not even the gaffes. It's their actual, intentional, focus group-tested messaging.

It's as if the GOP are a party of cannibals, and all their in-party politicking is finding the perfect way to advertise "To Serve Man." It works great until you try to talk to a non-cannibal.

Vote For Us: We Don't Suck As Much As They Do

Hate to say it but, I'd probably vote anyone who actually said it.

Some tasteful reworkings of Hillary's campaign slogan into airplanes flying into Twin Towers. Very respectful.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 7 - The Nightmare that Threatens the World!!!

The problem the GOP has is either a reflexive or a conscious decision to criticize everything and anything Obama, which ends up making them look petty and stupid. Nobody wants boots on the ground back in Iraq, but the GOP can't resist doing the opposite of Obama, which means keeping troop levels back up to GWB levels. Same thing with defense spending. We don't need to up defense 200Bn a year. When you start taking positions like this, voters pay attention as Mittens found out the hard way.

Or it just could be that the GOP really believes in what they want and are selling. And it offers a clear choice. The question is will the American people realize that the election in 2016 is even more about party than people since the Civil War or not?

That's a good article. The paragraph about income equality is half right. The wealthy have dragged GOP pols into insane policy positions and GOP voters into more and more acrobatic gymnastics to try to justify them. But he's wrong that big money has diminished as an influence with the Dems. The window has moved just as far to the right on Dems as Republicans -- each is a couple standard deviations farther to the right than they were in the 80s. When Dem Congressmen vote to increase the top marginal rate to 60 or 70 percent, I'll believe the grip of the rich is loosening.

Still, even though the Dems are GOP Lite, it's undeniably true that the choice is between two widely different futures: Hillary's center-right vs the GOP's virulence. Bernie needs to run and at least remind the Dems that there was a time when they didn't start caring about voters only when they exceed $250k in household earnings. That was always the GOP (who now only cares once you exceed $25M).

I just don't buy that you aren't a true liberal if you don't want tax rates at 70%. Even I think that's too high, and although I live one town over from Mittens (well, one of his many houses anyway) nobody would ever accuse me of carrying water for the man. ;)

That's not what I said at all. I want to see the Dems have a spectrum of opinion from center-left to far-left; on that spectrum you can occupy center-left. What we have is a party where there is nobody anchoring the radical edge, which leaves the orcs with the chance to push the entire political frame farther and farther right. Think of the opposite: the GOP has a huge presence, perhaps a majority in the House, on the very far right. This lends the center-right the illusion of moderation. So we get dippy ideas that used to only live in the addled minds of John Birchers in the freaking GOP national platform!

Your views are probably dead center of the country right now, but thanks to the lack of a serious political left in the US you have to fight for every scrap as if you were a far lefty. Remember: if we're there to push, it's not we who are going to get what we want, it's you. We'll never have a 70% top marginal rate, but if we were represented you wouldn't have to pull teeth to move it from 36% to 38%, fighting screams of TEH SOCIALISM!!11! all the way.

Let me say it a different way then. I'm not sure if its productive or counterproductive to advocate for a 70% rate. Consider the following for a moment:

One of the most brilliant framing of an issue over the last 40 years was the right convincing middle class and even some poor Americans that they all are paying the top tax rate. That way they can advocate for tax cuts for their benefactors while claiming to help out the little guy, who ends up getting no benefits from top level tax cuts. Go around saying that you want to double taxes on the top tier and half the country thinks they're getting a tax increase. Yes, that's stupid but its reality.

The good news is, at long last the left has a counter narrative, which is the concept of the "1%". Its succinct, people get it, and its not hard to know that you're not in Romney or Bush's income bracket. So, the game becomes not raising top level tax rates, which most super wealthy don't pay anyway, but to address things such as carried interest or deferred capital gains and other things. Most Americans know they aren't taking advantage of that, thus making it a lot easier to effect tax hikes on the wealthy if that's the goal.

Paying the top tax rate?????

I wish I were. 18% sounds great to me. That's what Mitt payed.
