Re: Global War on Terror Version 7 - The Nightmare that Threatens the World!!!

So, anyone want to answer this? Why is Congress so hell bent on piping in on Iran when they punt on the ISIS War?

You know the answer as well as everyone else. The GOP has done nothing for the last 6 years but drool "Me no like Obama!" into every mic they can find, in order to prime contributions and votes from their mouthbreather base. This is more of that. They have no other plan.

I think Meet the Press, and This Week, and Fox News Sunday are being too lax in their jobs. Everyone on Capital Hill should be getting hammered for this.

There's a reason it's called the government media complex. They're in on it. For example, during Obama press conferences, only certain people are allowed to ask questions, and they are told what to ask. It's no wonder people are flipping the station and turning to alternative on-line sites for news. With the new FCC regulations on internet, it'll only be a matter of time before that speech is also stifled.

Soon, it will become illegal to go to alternative news sites. During World War II, German radios came with a warning that only Nazi-approved stations were allowed, and listening to anything else (such as BBC) resulted in prison, or death after the Americans entered WWII.

Didn't the Democrats have an 8 year itch on "Me no like Bush!"?

OMG LIVING IN PAST DERKA DERKA MUHAMMAD JIHAD :p:D

That continued a few years into the Obama term. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if they're STILL blaming things on Dubya.

Wasn't the question. Although I'd say 95% of our problems for the last 2 decades came from the Dems not opposing Dubya at every turn.

I really don't think the Press is the issue ultimately though. We elect Congress and Congress is out to lunch. What strikes me as mind boggling is how they all came together on this Iran crap. They must be convinced that if Iran gets a nuke it will end up with a terrorist or be headed straight for Israel. I find that interesting because North Korea and Pakistan have 'em and nothings happened.

The genie is coming out of this bottle eventually.

The purpose of the press, and the reason for the First Amendment, is for people to have the ability to freely write about what is happening in an area of concern, and could potentially include exposing wrongdoing. I'm sure there are plenty of reporters that would love nothing more than to put this concept into practice. It can certainly be a dirty job sometimes, too. As we have seen recently, filming elected or appointed government workers is protected under the First Amendment. ( http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...ibit-taping-of-police-20121126,0,686331.story ) However, as we have seen, they are trying to abridge this, and it is our duty to continue to use it. As the old saying goes, "The pen is mightier than the sword."

They're convinced that what Sheldon Adelson wants, Sheldon Adelson gets, and what he wants is the US to carry Israel's water and launch a war on Iran.

Now, Sheldon Adelson isn't going to get that as long as we keep the orcs out of the White House, but the man can dream. And threaten. And bribe.

Sigh. At least there's that one rich CEO in Seattle who's doing something logical. His company will soar because of it.

Vladimir Putin isn't happy other countries are in the spotlight for an Iran deal, so he wants one of his own. For what? Guess.

How could any rational person think this sale of missiles is a good thing? Kaplan argues that this will force the US to make the deal. But why would IRAN go for the deal any more? There's a 3rd scenario which he conveniently ignored: Iran with advanced air-defense missiles and a protected, rapidly advancing nuclear program that we can't do a darn thing about.

Conventionally, that's true. However, there are nukes in our arsenal. God help us if that is under consideration.

Its just about positioning. I can't imagine there would be any major air strikes on Iran in any case. The NSA thought Iraq was flush with nuclear weapons. The only valuable a major US bombing campaign on Iran would wipe out would be would be our international standing.
