Make no mistake the guy gets what's coming to him if he did what he's accused of, but I'd rather have him facing US Army justice instead of Taliban justice. I'm not sure what's so hard for some people to understand about that.

I have no problem with him facing a court marital rather than a Taliban sword.

What I have a problem with its this adminstration freeing five top Taliban who will be back in the game in a couple of months.

To paraphrase what Ron Fournier just said on FNC "Five empty cells at Guantanamo for a full cell at Leavenworth.. Fair trade?". Me thinks not.

This ain't from the Onion.

Regardless of method of discharge, he's still a person. If he is convicted of a crime, he'll answer for it. Once he's out, he's no different from the rest of us. It's a new day, and everyone has an opportunity to make what they will of it.

Something out of a Tom Clancy our Ian Fleming novel?

Turns out the co-pilot of the Germanwings flight locked the Captain out of the cockpit and deliberately flew the jet into the ground.

Was he blackmailed? That is not the action of a rational person.

That's all we know right now. Since there are NO CAMERA's (why?) in the cockpit these people may never know why their love ones died in the crash. Sad.

Oh right, because you're going to tell a German airline what to do. Cue the Team America song!

No. There's no cameras in American planes either. I heard a guy talking about it last night after this information was announced. The one thing the Germans did differently here which is apparently against International Law is they allowed this one guy to be in the cockpit by himself. That's not allowed on any American airline.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 7 - The Nightmare that Threatens the World!!!

Given the difficulty in tracking a black box with audio and flight information, I can't imagine it'd be even possible to find video from a cockpit.

With today's technology it could be uploaded automatically during the flight. Or the camera is in a box just like the black boxes that's strong enough to withstand a crash like the black boxes are. I'd really hate to have to live with wondering why this guy did what he did.

Cloud saves are actually how some people expose police brutality after the cop deletes the local file on their device. Heck, maybe the new form of entertainment will be a live stream of the pilots on Twitch! :p

Don't give a rat's *** with Ron Fournier thinks. We're not paying him to make those decisions. If the only way to get the dude back was to exchange 5 low level prisoners at Gitmo for them, even if he ends up going to prison, that's a deal I make every day and twice on Sunday. When the deal was made, the circumstances of the soldier's capture weren't completely known, so again the decision was make a deal or watch a public execution. I'd be as comfortable with Bush II making this deal as I am with Obama doing it.

Well said. Had it gone the other way, the righty howler monkeys would be screaming that Obama LET A 'MURICAN DIE!!! The hypocrisy of the right on this story* is mindboggling.

(* yes, I know, and for the last 35 years)
