Makes you wonder why Bob Woodward is carrying water for them?

Nothing surprises me when it comes to journalism. Bob Woodward did something significant 40 years ago and has been living off of it ever since. Remember his book "Maestro" written about Alan Greenspan....before the whole economy collapsed. Or his two books, I think Bush at War was one of them which I think was ghostwritten by Cheney.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 7 - The Nightmare that Threatens the World!!!

My WAG? Cheney saw nothing but more dollar signs for his buddies in the defense sector. Bush was either too inept to comprehend the possible negative consequences, and/or didn't care because:

1) Saddam had plotted to assassinate Sr. and went unpunished for it, so it was time for payback
2) He figured some more "MURICA!" on his resume would aid his 2004 re-election bid

This may clear things up ;) Don't worry...there's cats.

Beltway Capture Syndrome. Like Hollywood or Wall Street or Silicon Valley or the VRWC Echo Chamber, people regress to the groupthink that dominates their cloistered surroundings. Hillary and Jeb supporters are pouring back into this city, and this narrative serves both groups.

Given today's climate, and MN's growing reputation as being a terrorist breeding ground, how can the people being attacked know that they're being squirted with water from those water guns and not something else? The people on the Pedal Pub might find the auspice of being attacked like that quite terrifying.

I find it amusing that threatening to squirt someone with a water gun amounts to a terroristic threat, but barking "I'M GOING TO BREAK YOUR F'KIN ARM" while pinning someone to the pavement does not.

A magic badge typically has something to do with that. ;)

In this country we use two tools to keep the poor in line: the cops and the prison system. In the words of the Blues Brothers, "excessive force has been approved."

This is not a "free" country. Below a certain economic threshold people lose their rights, and because we segregate by social caste, the people above that threshold neither know nor care.

And you'll also need to shell out extra money to avoid a vehicular manslaughter charge. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...stops-cars-crashing-into-people-10277203.html

Here's another fun way we screw the poor. Note where it's most prevalent. Big surprise.

This way is especially cool because it ensures that poverty is replicated from one generation to the next. Wouldn't want the poors to recognize they're screwed: when that happens they tend to get uppity against their Betters.

There's a great line in "Bessie" when she's talking about the acceptance of upwardly mobile blacks in white society: "in the North you don't care how big we get as long as we don't get too close; in the South you don't care how close we get as long as we don't get too big." It's true for the caste system in general.

I see your article is written by a bunch of fascists that want all thought and education to be controlled by the government. Reminds me of North Korea.

As much as private schools have tuition costs and create this divide you seem to be championing, they also offer scholarships and need-based aid. In the case of the most common type of private school, that being one run by a religious order, aid is typically offered to parish members, and sometimes of further need, as I've found out first-hand. Certain developmental years are where you would also see a higher influx in the private school area (again, personal experience). That shows a sign that maybe there's a problem with the teachers and/or teaching methods in the public school system. As much as the intentions of NCLB and Common Core are there, they've in all reality made things worse, because teachers are now held to teaching to specific metrics of rote memorization rather than critical thinking abilities that get you further ahead in life.

Interesting Eurovision 2015. After last year they needed to install anti booing technology for Europeans booing Russia. There was quite a bit of cronyism as Russia's sphere partners just voted straight across for Russia.

This year there was a lot of relief as Sweden barely beat out Russia for the top performer. Oddly, the Russian was the best of the entire contest...and Polina Gagarina deserved to win.

They teach factual memorization in private school too, just less of it. Plus we still had art and band, which are typically the first two casualties of any public school budget cuts.

We had some aid available, but not much. Similar to many universities, I think there were a few scholarships endowed by donors to free a few smart black kids from the chains of the bankrupt Pontiac public schools, and "diversify" the white, Catholic student body.

I'm well aware of what a private school teaches, given I've been in both worlds. Funny enough, band/choir went in the other direction where I grew up; the private school not so much, but the public had been expanding it. Of course, the area has been fighting consolidation for years, and they've started "sharing services", but somehow, art and music seem to survive.

Where I grew up in East Tennessee, "Private School" is code for "fundamentalist religious school that has no intention of educating anybody in art, music, nor, for that matter, anything remotely academic. But by golly these kids will know them sum' Bible verses - canIgitaamen?"

On the other side, because of the massive chemical plant (Eastman, nee Kodak) in my hometown, the city schools had a tax base for days - offered at least 15 AP classes, national-class band, orchestra, and show choir, state-competitive athletic programs, etc.

I was in high school before I really realized that private school had a positive connotation in most of the country.

The connotation of a private school is very much based around its agenda. In the 90's, the parochial schools (at least in NNY) really started pushing high educational values and not so much of the Bible thumping (although Roman Catholic theology was an important subject), and people flocked there. Once they started Bible thumping after 2000 or 2001, they started to contract, and eventually consolidated or folded. Sometimes there are other reputations, like how the parochial school near where FlagDUDETTE grew up has a "Please Sister, not the ruler!" reputation, but I don't know anything beyond that.
