Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux
Late Drive Time notes:
Friday
-Genoe was outstanding
-Duluth shoots from everywhere w/ the abnormally small sheet
-Stole two points for us (though we all know that

)
-Soley & Bunger were a "big boost of adrenaline"
-"Gave Seth Soley the hard hat" after the game
-Both played very well, solid defensively, gave us a lot of momentum
-Line was rewarded with the game winner in the 3rd period
-Small ice surface at the DECC means things happen fast
-Must chip the puck and avoid turnovers
-Duluth had the neutral zone clogged up very well
-Too much forcing of passes to the middle during the 1st period, but managed to adjust and steal the win
Saturday
-Illnesses and injuries all weekend - set out with 20 on Thursday
-Two players initially stayed behind with piggy flu, but drove over on Friday and were able to play (Nielson & Kivisto).
-Lost Royer early in the 1st period on Friday
-Gwilliam played sick on Friday, didn't go on Saturday
-Bunger went down on his 1st or 2nd shift Saturday with an injury
-Dobson's stupid CFB put us down to 16 total skaters
-Including Genoe, 8 frosh were playing lots of minutes
-3 defensemen played forward
-Duluth did well taking advantage of our short bench & youth
-Trying to get healthy over the bye weekend
-Lighter week of practice
-Baker & Gwilliam have missed practice all week due to lingering illness
-Brushing up on the PK as much as possible while guys heal
One last note - regarding BSU's first ever win over the Gophers, Russell generally feels that both Bemidji and Omaha will be solid additions to the WCHA.
