When I have had to deal with similar situations, I've found that if I go to them and say, "I need your help. I have a problem." and then I lay out the data, they graciously provide assistance. It might not work for you now in this situation with these people. Basically I flatter them shamelessly: I've found the source of the problem but I can't figure it out since I'm not nearly as smart as they are, maybe they can see what I am missing.
Ignorance that would prefer to remain ignorant is grinding my gears

They won't believe my simple answers. When I expand to show the reasoning behind my conclusion, they refuse to listen. I don't know how to convince someone that won't listen to reason. Logic and facts have always been my ammo, I have been disarmed. What can I do?
