While not the outcome I desire(shocking, right?), that was an amazing hockey game. This is exhibit 4217a why a two goal lead sucks. I would have loved to have been in the locker room at the end of the second period to hear what was said...probably most of it by the captains, if I had to guess. The GWG was a thing of absolute beauty. To put it into man terms, it was the Denise Richards in Wild Things of hockey goals. Two OUTSTANDING games at the CCC this weekend.....this is why I love not having to work nights anymore!

edit: true story...it is my fault UWEC lost. My father in law will vouch for me that I said this. But I told him this prediction during the 2nd intermission: SNC is going to score within the first 5 minutes of the period. If they do, they will win. Hand to "insert your higher deity of choice here".

Great assist from Bradshaw on the GWG. Nice night for the freshman with his four helpers!!

(From earlier tonight).

WBNY Sports reported that a Morrisville player threw a garbage can into the crowd at Buffalo State.

Seven total ejections after all was said and done!

Re: Game Thread 1/28....Scores and such....

I was glad the folks in sections F and G were able to be rousted from their nap to make at least a modicum of noise in the third period tonight. When the players aren't playing well, the crowd could sure try and give them a jolt once in a while. The energy of the crowd, while never raucous to begin with, is at an all-time low this year. Only three times I can think of in 12 years in the Triple C has it been deafening: River Falls in 2003 regular season, Bethel in 2007 NCAAs and St. Thomas in 2008 NCAAs - and that was only on Petey's GWG.

Noise comparison during events... Augusta National : Cornerstone ... Golf : Hockey

Sorry, I just couldn't stay quiet anymore. Maybe the Library Hockey Crowd is rubbing off on me.

SNC SID

I appreciate and agree with your comments as I am one of the rare "out of control" fans that is constantly getting the stink eye from the oldsters in my section. I believe that the fans in my section who are trading recipes, etc. should get a reward for their $8 three hour sit. I believe that the nets that protect fans from flying pucks should be taken out so a couple of shots to the bean by flying pucks will either wake up the masses or will force the non hockey crowd to another venue like a movie or a ballet where the only threat is a flying slipper. Please take down the nets and eliminate the non hockey crowd, obtain a hockey crowd, and move forward. And while I am at it, with the exception of your individual efforts; how in the HE double hockey sticks would you know that an SNC hockey game is even being played? It looks clear to me that attendance is down and that the SNC athletic department is just fine with the status quo. You reap what you sew and a promotion or two or an article in the paper might spark some interest. In my opinion, SNC has a great team year in year out. They should be promoted as such by the SNC athletic department.

I know Morrisville is only rolling three lines, Does this mean that these 7 players have to sit during their next game? If thats the case then the Oz game is going to be shooting practice by the third period.

From the Buff State website.....sounds like a wild one!

BUFFALO, NY—James Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) celebrated senior night with two goals and two assists as Buffalo State (10-8-2/6-4-1) blasted visiting Morrisville State (3-16-1/2-9-1), 12-3, in the Bengals final regular season home game of the season tonight at the Ice Arena.

Drew Klin (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) tied a school record with six assists, and Matt Bessing (Elma, NY/Cheektowaga) and Mac Balson (Lakefield, ON/Adam Scott CVI) had two goals and an assist each to add to the onslaught. John Corrigan (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) scored his first collegiate goal and had three assists. Nick Melligan (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Tyler Nelson (Jamestown, NY/Falconer) had a goal and two assists each, while Shane Avery (Fort Covington, NY/Salmon River), Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) and Mike Connolly (Shoreham, NY/Sault Area) also scored for Buffalo State.

Buffalo State scored on three of its first five shots and jumped out to a 3-0 lead just 3:48 into the contest. After pushing the lead to 4-0 before the end of the first period, the Bengals jumped out to a quick start again in the second frame. Buffalo State netted five goals in the opening 5:29 of the period, including four power-play goals during a five-minute major.

Morrisville finally responded later in the second with a three-goal outburst in just over five minutes to make the score 9-3 heading into the third. The Mustangs continued to be plagued by a complete lack of discipline in the final frame, however, surrendering three more power-play goals by the Bengals.

Buffalo State set a school record for power-play goals in a game, going 8 of 16 with the man-advantage. The Bengals outshot the Mustangs, 52-21. Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) turned aside 19 of the 22 shots he faced before Ryan Malinowski (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) stopped a pair of shots in the final eight minutes.

Morrisville State finished the game with 23 penalties for 114 minutes, compared to eight for 33 minutes by Buffalo State.

Buffalo State will travel to the North Country next weekend and will faceoff at Potsdam on Friday at 7 p.m.

That would be great and all if Oswego was actually their next game....

Re: Game Thread 1/28....Scores and such....

Anyone know why that oswego goal was waved off last night?

Well, it definitely went off Tim Carr's foot and directly in. There was no kicking motion from what I saw, the official immediately washed it out, and obviously there's no video replay system.

Re: Game Thread 1/28....Scores and such....

I didn't see any kicking motion either Mike and that baffled me. I think heard the word caromed was used to describe why the goal did not count over the PA lol. Tim Carr was pointing to his skate on the ice and seemed accepting of the call and after the game that was the case. I asked him and he seemed sold on the ref's call.

Dan -- I agree 1000% with your comments about the CCC crowd.
The students are about the only group that make any consistent noise. Most act like they are attending a funeral.
Cheer ONLY when a SNC goal is scored.
I have said this before: "Success has bred complacency at the CCC".
To your point Toe Blake: There are numerous promotions that could be developed (without huge costs) to draw more people to the games.
Why not try to fill it up a couple times a season?? We can only hope.....

Looking at the box score, it looks like only one of Morrisville's majors was a game DQ. So only he would have to sit the next game.

Correct. Morrisville is Oswego's next game on Saturday. Morrisville plays Cortland on Friday night.

You nailed it. How about two of the majors though late in the 3rd period....spearing and slew-footing?! Are you kidding me?

slew-footing is about as low as it gets.
