Game of Thrones Season 6: Lions and Wolves and Sand Snakes, oh my!

Why can't they take whatever writer's craft they used to create the banter in the first half and apply it to ANYTHING ELSE ON THIS SHOW.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 6: Lions and Wolves and Sand Snakes, oh my!

Another thing I didn't like:

Jon: "Fall back!"

Where? But they did, and it worked. The hell?

I literally screamed that at the TV so hard Dr. Mrs. almost fell off the couch laughing.

John spent most of the fight pointed in the wrong direction and glowering instead of fighting.

This episode was... well... it wasn't good.

Although the image of the army in a circle just waiting for the ice to freeze back up was wonderful.

That's just it though... the effects and cinematography have been wonderful.

The way that the dragons are being used is beyond what I expected to see and beyond my imagination. Peter Jackson should be embarrassed although of course he's too arrogant to know that feeling. I digress...

The dead bear... the flaming swords... dead things that can actually move quickly... the dragon's death spiral... the scene where they are surrounded...

All really well done.

Then you get "Dany" mournfully gazing to the north in search of her lost Snow instead of mourning her "child" that she should be shell shocked to lose - having assumed that they were nearly impervious.

I said out loud that if she had crawled under the covers at the end there that I was done with the show.

Unless of course they showed full frontal... ;)

Of course the dead vs live dragon battle will be absolute porn of the highest order.

When he said 'Dany' I thought oh, was 'Snookums' taken?

Jon Snow is a back from the dead dweeb. She should have nothing to do with him.

Also: Jon could have climbed up to her and said "kill the King" and then dragon roast, end of story. But instead he had to go off slashing ineffectually.

The Starks* are worthless. All they do is get other people killed.

(* Yeah, I know.)

Will probably be Jon riding the 3rd dragon vs the dead king on his.

I have no problem with one of the dragons dying coz obviously its story over right then and there as the army of the dead was easy pickins.

Would have been hard to explain why that didn't happen unless one of them died.

How so?

Is only praise allowed?

I wasn't really gonna stop watching the show although I did say that.

C'mon... the "Dany" along with the starry eyes was complete cheese and beneath this show - which is far and away one of the best series ever and right up there as one of the best fantasy epics ever - only LOTR is on par.

I'm a little disappointed that all the subtlety from the early seasons are gone for warp drive and fan service, but D&D didn't originally sign up to do fanfiction and since Martin couldn't be arsed to write anything in 6 years they're writing the ending with notes on a napkin from him and slipping back toward dumb loud entertainment to complete it. It's still fun, if not what it was.

It's hardly beneath the show. That kind of scripting has been going on since season one. Be it Sansa and Joffrey, Joffrey and Margery, Margery and Tommen, Jon and Ygritte, hell, even Tormund and Brienne. So either you've ignored it up to this point or now you tolerated it. I don't know what has changed.

I'll be honest, it really comes off as the ugly and boring hipsterish garbage that AV Club puts out. Gotta get out in front of the haters lol.

Regarding the time warping, it's hard to wait two episodes while Gendry runs back to the wall, sends a raven to Dragonstone over the next two, and then spend an extra episode with dany flying up to torch everyone when your season is only seven episodes long. Of course they're going to compress timelines. There just isn't enough time to take an entire season to ride up to the wall anymore. It's the nature of the beast. You should have known this was coming since they announced they were only going to do 13 more episodes.

Were there a few hokey moments? Sure. But i guess I've just decided to ignore them and enjoy the show instead of rolling my eyes and thinking, "Well, I could do better." :D

I'm with DX on this. I'd rather just accept that there are things they need to do to fit into the time they have onscreen, and enjoy the show.
