Future D3 (and D2) hockey programs

Word at the time amongst D1 journalists was that the AIC return to D2 hockey was nothing more than a sleight of hand. They never had any intent to continue their program under any guise. We'll see if this really comes to something.
As quite possibly the only AIC hockey fan, I do still follow them on Facebook. They have been posting commitments and have a good coach. Patrick Tabb, who was a volunteer(I could be wrong on this) coach for the team for a number of years. I probably will not go to a game for a number of years as I work through the bitterness of how the President of the college handled this. I'll stick to watching the NESCAC and North Adams State and Skidmore.

My geuss is the MASCAC, Plymouth St was there for a while so we know theyre comfortable with NH schools, Anna Maria looks like theyre not gonna last much longer dropping the conference to 7 teams, and thats a way easier conference to establish a program and win titles vs joining the LEC or the CNE.

I suspect this might just be the beginning of the NE10 schools making the move down (or up). New England is down to just 9 D2 schools with this Saint Anselm news.

What to make of it for SNHU, Franklin Pierce and Saint Michael's...

AIC has been snatching up some players from the d3 portal. Not necessarily impact guys from premier programs, but what is AIC's plan for next season?

Official, Saint Anselm reclassifying down to D3 as of July 1, 2027:
A little bit of history.

Quite a number of years ago, Potsdam's coach, Ed Seney, surprisingly left Potsdam (he was the only coach to lead them to a conference championship and their only NCAA bid) to coach at St. Anselm's. Many were surprised because he was leaving a great NYS pension, or at least the full potential of it.

Rumor had it, he left because he was lured by the "promise" that St. Anselm was going to elevate their hockey program to D1. That of course never happened. And now the whole kit and cabooble is moving down to D3...

(BTW, this was attempted a few years ago by St. Anselm, and the alumni base had a cow, and forced the administration to back down.)

Little East truly getting the old ECAC East band back together…
