What BC reminds us is that a quality 4th line is the best way to wear down a good opponent. 3rd period stats tell a lot about a team.
I agree -- put a long post in the Harvard thread about the quality of our 4th line. I think, as I said at the time, that if we do well in the postseason, our fourth line's performance as the third line at the Providence game during Four Nations will be seen as a turning point of the season.
Look... there are plenty of sponge cakes in the WCHA too.
BSU just made UMD look like a twinkie.
BSU also got swept by Ohio State making BSU suspect as a puff pastry.
Wisco struggled for 2 periods to pull away from UNH (a serial jelly donut), and barely got by the aforementioned puff pasty. Wisco might be as soft as cheese whiz.
Minnesota got beat up by BSU during 4-nations, which makes me think there's some cream filling in the latter half of Minny's line-up.
Not to mention that BC (who you say is not a cupcake) struggled with SLU - a team that is more up and down than jello mold on a freight train. BC might stand for boston cream.
Let's not leave out QU, who tied Penn State (a soft cookie if I ever saw one), and is a Suzy Q until further notice.
And finally, Clarkson and BU have had some ugly battles with chocolate frosting teams.
You say the East is all cupcakes. If that's true, then all of D1 hockey is one big whoopie pie.
Lol you crack me up, this is qualityFinally, BC gets a quality win so I can justify them being 3rd in my pole. I was wondering if all those calories they have been feasting on would slow them down at all. Apparently not, but I think the illustrious Katey Stone psyched her team out with the goalie games she played yesterday, so the win needs to have a * by it.
I am a tad bummed UW had a weak performance in the 1st period against UNH (I think it was a combo of UNH playing well and UW being a little flat after listening on the interweb), UNH would have cracked sooner. 5-0 is still a very solid win on the road after a long trip with a gut full of turkey.
BC vs UW comparo...
BC's 5-0 win against UNH only had them getting 28 sog (which was @ UNH), UW had 38.

I may have to move BC up to 2 if the rodents don't clobber Princeton in the 3rd period today.
Minnesota traveled to Princeton by bus.Start moving 'em up. Those cupcake teams - SLU, Clarkson and QU - looked just a bit better against Princeton. And if you think it's the travel... well I believe the flight from Minnesota is about the same as that bus ride from SLU and Clarkson.
Well... they did take chartered travel (which is why you don't see anyone besides the team). If I had been on that "bus", it probably would have saved me 80% of the travel time it took in my car.Minnesota traveled to Princeton by bus.

Thanks, D2D. I'm starting the trip back immediately after the game tomorrow, with the hope of being home by lunchtime Tuesday. But it was worth the effort, CrazyDave; you came through loud and clear on the audio. Hopefully tomorrow we'll hear your 'after-goal cheer' a little more often. Get 'em going and the ride home will go by quickly.![]()

Emergency exits over the wheel wells. Totally bus.
