Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Maybe I missed something but I have yet to see even a word of pre-FF coverage on NESN (our alleged regional sports network that carries the Beanpot and some HEA regular season games).

Why would you expect that? The games are on ESPN, not NESN. NESN has their hands full with the start of the Red Sox season and the Bruins fight for the playoffs. I can't see NESN wasting their time promoting an event that they benefit from in no way.

Anyone trying to dump a pair of seats tonight? My friend and I are considering making an impromptu purchase and going after work. They're not too bad on StubHub, but I figured I'd ask here!

Because the FF and everything surrounding it is bona fide sports news, at least in the city where it is being held. It just seems to me that regional sports networks like NESN should report on legitimate regional sports news beyond the local pro teams. I'm sure they could squeeze something in along with the Sox-Celts-B's coverage. The fact that the games are being carried by another network is irrelevant, IMO.

"The New England Sports Network (or NESN [NESS-en]) is an American regional sports cable and satellite television network that is owned as a joint venture between the Fenway Sports Group (which owns a controlling 80% interest, and is the owner of Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club) and Delaware North (which owns the remaining 20% interest in the network, and owns the Boston Bruins and TD Garden)."

Does it make sense to you now?

The NESN facebook page has had a few FF related articles. Of course since they post about 100 times a day, the FF is bound to come up.

No one gives two craps about college hockey in the media.

Reruns of English Bar-room Darts gets more ratings than college hockey. It's the way it is.

That's what I've been trying to tell everyone for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Accept it. I think my analogy was, would they put the NCAA water polo Championship in Boston? No. ESPN has already proven that Lacrosse is more popular than college hockey, since they continue to show the 812 overtimes while delaying the hockey game.

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

NESN is one of the semi-good guys on my list. They actually telecast Hockey East games during the year season, usually on Friday nights when the Bruins aren't playing.

Regarding the Bruins, though a funny thought entered my mind. I wonder if some fans are going to complain about the Bruins in the midst of a playoff race having to finish the season with three games on the road The reason? The Frozen Four.

Uh, the lacrosse thing is due to contract issues. Nothing to do with covering another game. They HAD to show the lacrosse game in its entirety.

I remember comcast sports new england had that BU-SLU 4 OT game in 2000 regionals. They had to cut away because of celtixs game. That was something. Wanna say the celtics game ended and hockey game was still going on.

The first two periods of the 1995 Frozen Four game between Maine and Michigan were pre-empted because of a women's tennis match that simply would not end. Then the game went to triple overtime. I was listening to Joe Carr lose his **** as Dan Shermerhorn won the game while watching on ESPN as Lee Trevino sank a meaningless putt in a meaningless tournament (it wasn't the Masters). ESPN came back to show the icing that led to the faceoff goal, then left to go back to golf. No acknowledgement that it was on tape delay, no post-game...just a quick 30 seconds or so and then back to golf.

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

I hope the second game doesn't go into double or triple overtime, as you cannot count that the T would have the sense to stay running until the game is over. But I will be stuck like everyone else at North Station if that happens. I am unsure if anyone in town not going to the games knows that the Frozen Four is here; have not read or heard much about it.

Haven't read through the posts so far, but I would suggest the Union Oyster House near Faneuil Hall and Durgin Park in Faneuil Hall as two old-timey restaurants to visit. Union Oyster House has a booth they will point out that JFK purportedly used to eat at.

Welcome to the NO and Sioux fans, hope you have a great visit. I hate the odd years when the FF is in Boston as there is no vacation involved, have to work up until game time tonight.

Also, when the FF goes back to Minnesota, Nye's Polonaise room will have closed. What bad timing, the FF should have been in St. Paul this year.

Harvard hosted the Women's Water Polo championship in 2013

Lots of Hockey fans around only got lost once coming in.Snowed from Portland to NH. Cold enough down here. Made it to hotel and then to garden. Not bad for a hick

And a hick is what you is :D

Another reason to hate the NCAA: no beer. Garden sells beer for Beanpot and Hockey East final, so this must be an evil NCAA rule. I wish I knew. My first Frozen Four. I would have watched the first game from the bar...

I can't imagine the NCAA passing up an opportunity to make lots of money.
