Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Jesus, just went down to the Garden, cold and windy. Sleet coming tonight.

All in all it seems like things are looking good. Fanfest stage and other stuff still being set up. They had concessions available, FF stuff in the new pro shop and another typical setup in the concourse of the loge right near the elevators that take you up. All D1 jerseys are located in a long row outside of the new pro shop area before you go up to the loge sections.

How does the merch look?

Solid, same as always really. I will note there is a lot more stuff at the concourse option(s) than there is in the new pro shop. Just a few things in the pro shop as far as hats, tshirts, keychains, pins, etc.

According to the TD Garden website, for parking at the North Station garage, there’s a $42 flat rate if you arrive 2-1/2 hours before the event. There’s a phone number listed for additional information. I called.

Here’s the conversation (repeated essentially verbatim so you can make your own judgment as to how (mis)informed:rolleyes: the person who answered to phone was.

Me: When are you going to open for the Frozen Four tomorrow?
Her: 5:00
Me: But the game starts at 5:00
Her: OK, then we’ll open at 3:00
Me: So what happens if we get there before 3:00?
Her: We’ll charge you $62
Me: So if we get there before 3:00, you’ll charge us $62, but if we get there after, you’ll charge us $42?
Her: Right

Taking the website at its word, parking should be $42 if you arrive after 2:30. For those who aren’t familiar with the setup, the North Station garage is the most convenient, but there are others that are not far away (but they aren’t much cheaper). We may just take our chances at getting stiffed for parking because it’s really hard for my wife to get around and we can’t afford to do much walking to either get to the Garden or finding a place to eat.

I'm really glad you posted this, because I called yesterday and was a little stunned (for lack of a better word) at the person's, shall I say, "cavalier" attitude. It was like "This is the situation," but then when I would point out something they would respond, "Oh. Well, OK."

So the bottom line is I don't really know what to expect. My expectation is that it's the same as it was for Hockey East. The "regular" rate applies to the commuters who have parked before a certain time. The "special event" rate ($42) applies to the people arriving for the game. It's just that they don't really seem to know WHEN the game is... :)

i recommend parking at the Goverment Center garage on Congress St. It is $30 to park for all events, and a short walk (10 minute or less) to the Garden.

I saw three Minnesota fans and a Lake State fan tonight on the T. Fun stuff!

I always park at the Post Office Square Garage for TD Garden events. It's only $9 after 4:00 or on weekends, which could be an issue for those planning to arrive early on Thursday. It is longer 20-minute walk to the Garden. They also have restrooms.

Due to the 5:00 puck drop and the overlap with the commuter parking, don't count on event pricing being available at all garages.

There are at least a dozen MN fans that I know of in BOS this weekend (mostly GPLers, some USCHOers). Hint: they will travel in a pack. Find one, and you'll be intro'd to th others.

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Ok, Thanks. I think we're stuck with the ticket, based on the time we're getting there. We'll make it work.

Another question. We're planning on going to the Sam Adams Brewery. We were told that the Orange Line further south can be a bit rough. I looked, and found that Sam Adams is off of the Orange Line, close to the Stony Brook stop. Will it be ok, and safe, to take the Orange Line to the Stony Brook stop in the middle of the day, and walk from the T stop to the brewery? Or should we plan on taking a cab?

I skipped Sam Adams when I was in town for a conference (A Boston brewery whose operations are in Pennsylvania, Cleveland, and Vermont and he is from St. Louis... though I heard he's a good guy so I'll allow that). Harpoon and Trillium are near the convention center near Summer St. Night Shift in Everett had some nice stuff. Cambridge Brewing was decent though the servers were hipsters. Mystic in Chelsea had some good saisons when I was there and a 1.5 yr barreled quad that was out of its mind.

I wish I had gotten to slumbrew when I was home at Xmas. At that point I just didn't want to do any more driving around. I ran out of time to get to Idle Hands in Everett.

Of course that leaves out Beer Works. But if you aren't pre-gaming there then you aren't human so that's your parents fault ;) :p

---

edit: and you have a good job and a relatively cheap house... take a freaking cab if you're so worried.

I was on the T with a group of 5 yesterday. I had a card, they had tickets. I was waiting for them all day. Get a card. Costs less, works better. Far less hassle. I bought a one fare ticket to get me to the Charlie Store. If I had to do it over I'd ask the first T employee I saw if he/she had any in their pocket. I think most do. All stations have machines to load the card once you have it.

A-men. I treat every major city like this if I'm going to use their transit system. Disadvantage is that Boston won't let you buy one in advance via mail.

Had no problem getting around on the T tonighr, and made it to the hotel fine. Will be out and about in my jersey tomorrow, asking UND fans about their levees.

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

That daily parking option is better than anything at north station
