Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Leave any firearms at home.

Yeah, this. Nothing political intended, but firearms laws here aren't what they are elsewhere and you could end up in a lot of legal trouble if you open or conceal carry. Plus, it's a safe city, there's no need.

Depending on how they want to prosecute it, it may carry an 18 month mandatory minimum sentence.

You don't want to miss Tampa do you? :)

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Funny you say that...I was going to mention it a couple of days ago (and I just had one at one of the suburban malls where all their "other" locations are). Agreed that it's some of the best you'll have. I didn't want to get into a whole "pizza" thing, because some people don't like that kind. What I mean is, their pizza is true "Italian" pizza - thin, crispy crust, more tomato than cheese and dry. MOST of the pizza shops in Massachusetts are owned by Greeks, and they make a different kind of pizza. Thicker, more "chewy" crust, tons of oil (which usually runs off and soaks everything), more cheese than tomato sauce. But some like that, so the qualifier is you have to like the kind of pizza Regina makes. It's more like New York pizza, where many of the others are more like Chicago (or even deep dish). When I was in school and we went to the Regina's in the North End, there were only two types of pizza. Now there's a billion, so unfortunately we have to explicitly describe the type of pizza, because not everyone likes that. See, I guess that's why I didn't want to bring it up...
I've had them all... all types. I've been to those 'famous' New Haven pizza joints (very good pizza), Pat's in Orono (very good), numerous pizza houses on Federal Hill in Providence, New York City, all over the States, Mexico the Caribbean Islands and wicked awesome pizza at a hole in the wall pub on the outskirts of North Conway, NH. Italian, Greek, Polish, English, Irish... you name it, I've had it. ;)

I'm a fan of the taste/flavor, not style. I've had equally delicious, but not better than Regina's.
Question of the day. Do folks want to eat in a place that has a line out the door or the restaurant with 100 parking spaces with 5 cars in the lot. There's usually a good reason for each of those scenario's.

If someone likes pizza, I don't think they'll be disappointed at Regina's.
BTW chickod... how was the pizza at the satellite Regina's? Same as the North End? Never been to one.

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

The better (for 'best' i say to each their own..) pizza used to be.. well still is @ Santarpios in East Boston. Too bad the area ain't what it used to be.. still, ive had no problems over the yrs. I get my share to/ from the airport when i can. :-). Regina is very good too.

I went to the one at Solomon Pond Mall (Marlboro)...it was excellent. But again, I LIKE their pizza. I can't compare to the North End because it was so long ago I would be lying. I've also been to the one at Burlington Mall and it was equally as good as Solomon, so based on that I would have to say they are pretty consistent. And, typically, when you franchise, you have to be, because people have the expectation that no matter which one they go to, they will be comparable.

We talking Delaney's?

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

I live across the street from the one in Station Landing and get my pizza there regularly. I've never been to the one in the North End (shame on me!!) but I would venture a guess it's right on par.

northeastern - I haven't had Santarpio's in forever. And now I want to go. It's not the easiest place to go and to park.

So,then, Fan Zone East of Fan Zone West? The two logical places.

Just need to pick one.

I'd say, in honor of our east coast hosts- Fan Zone East- between games Thursday.

Anyone at all interested in meeting between the games? Just curious.

depending on which day, street parking is plentiful. wknds might be tougher..(but, don't go the maverick station T route.. not anymore.. or I'm just getting old :-). also, if you go.. the Easty location is cash only still.. i think.

I just got a slice at the Pheasant Lane Mall and it does not compare to the original location. It was still pretty decent for mall pizza though.

Interesting...and I forgot to mention that the one at South Station was good as well. So perhaps what we're saying is that the "franchise" locations are all equally good but a cut below the original?

Re: Frozen Four - Where to Eat? Drink? Must See Stuff

Jesus, just went down to the Garden, cold and windy. Sleet coming tonight.

All in all it seems like things are looking good. Fanfest stage and other stuff still being set up. They had concessions available, FF stuff in the new pro shop and another typical setup in the concourse of the loge right near the elevators that take you up. All D1 jerseys are located in a long row outside of the new pro shop area before you go up to the loge sections.

Yup... Delaney's Hole in the Wall in North Conway, NH. Just discovered it last October. Gonna be a regular visit for us from now on. Them Irish folk serve up some dam good pizza!

Bringing a PC alum and his 10 year old son with me tomorrow. Regina's for lunch around 2:00-2:30 (mushroom/sausage). Meeting up with his PC alum brother later as well. We'll be carrying the little guy out of the Garden late as we're staying for both games. ;)

Santarpio's... Great pizza! Just not as easy to get to from the Garden, is why I didn't mention it. But if anyone is over that way, great pizza, and lamb ka-bobs too.
