Frozen Four ticket location

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

So they were. Then I guess I don't know what the hell they were thinking (not that it especially matters).

Very true.

The way I thought it worked, was that the top seed left picked which section they wanted, then it went to the next highest seed...etc.

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

Were in 102 row 3. Anyone ever sit that low at the X? I have never been lower than row 12 there and am wondering if I will lose much of the far end viewing?

I've had "on the glass" seats at the X before, the view is quite good. From Row 3, the penalty box is going to interfere with sight lines to the corner on your left but it will be better than a few rows up from there. It also depends on how you like to watch the game, I like to be in close so I'm quite happy with the location.

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

This has been bantered about, but if anyone is interested, USCHO posters meet up under the WCHA jerseys between periods to say hi (I believe it's the gate on the corner of 7th St). It's a Final Five tradition that we may as well apply for the Frozen Four.

And if you haven't been to the X before, show up early, and walk around the arena. They have some cool things like a high school jersey display, the glass wall view, etc.

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

late arriving tickets....actually they were returned to the xcel twice and I ended up just picking them up on Saturday.

Priority 1, 2 tickets
Section 220, row 3

We meet outside section 112/113 by the smoking entrance, not the jerseys. The jerseys are right by a concession stand and gets too busy for a large group to just stand there.

Well, we didn't do that this year. My bad.

Sweet. I'm in section 113...meeting after each period?

I'm up for it. Will be wearing tPenalty Box shirt from 2004 on Thu, and dressing up on Saturday.

But your report is perfectly on time. I'll post my summary after the tournament. Thanks for posting!

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

Almost time to leave for St Paul!

The Summary of Seat Assignments should be pretty straightforward this year; there don't appear to be many mysteries left to unravel. I'd simply ask everyone to keep the following in mind:

1. Comments about the strengths and weaknesses of your particular seats are very helpful and always welcome. In a concession to Brenthoven, I'll acknowledge that:

All Seats at the Xcel Energy Center > 0 :)

Nevertheless, there is an interesting variety of seating available. Maybe you'll discover a hidden gem. Maybe you'll wish you had a different section. Either way, let us know.

2. I'll need you guys to be my eyes and ears on Saturday. For reasons unrelated to hockey, I'll be absent from the title game.:o The good news is that it shouldn't affect the summary at all. I don't expect that there will be any seating chart surprises Saturday night. But if there are, please post!

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

Second: thank God that the MI band is relatively far away from me if they are in 119.

Uh oh... hearing that just ruined my day. Waaaaaayyy to close to my seat.

I think I'll probably end up wearing one of my old gopher jersey's to the games. Maybe my 1997 3rd jersey that we used to wear in the pep band. I'm not going to pick up something new for one of these teams, so that limits my options.

FWIW, the Bands will be in the upper deck on the ends. The Michigan fans will be in 119, but not the band.

1997 jersey would be great. That was a good Frozen Four :p:D:D

Phew! That's a relief. I can handle MI fans, so I guess I will go to the game. ;) Even though the $400+ tickets seem to be going for online is tough to overlook, I can't miss this.

I'm a little biased against bands for obvious reasons, so they all suck :D Actually, most aren't too bad. It's usually the cheers or fight songs themselves that get to me.

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

Post-tournament, the same questions remain relevant:

1. Comments about the strengths and weaknesses of your particular seats are very helpful and always welcome. In a concession to Brenthoven, I'll acknowledge that:

For reasons unrelated to hockey, I was absent from the title game.:o The good news is that it shouldn't affect the summary at all. I doubt that there were any seating chart surprises Saturday night. But if there were, please post.

Let us know what you think!

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

By way of comparison with my previous trip to the X, my seats weren't as good, but I mainly ascribe that to getting two tickets this time vs. one the last time (and, possibly, an overall reduction in the number of seats available).

However, I was very happy with where my friend and were seated. We were at the club level in section 2, which is the second over from the corner, so we were just about on the goal line. We had a complete view of the entire ice surface and reasonably comfortable concourses. Laterally, we were in about the same spot as DC, but I think club level at the X is a bit lower than the top deck in DC, and there were none of the sightline issues that we saw in DC.

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

I was in section 108 row 18--priority 13
Very good seats but better last time in St Paul
Friend who was top priority was 107 row 13
I think the problem which was evident in Detroit is who assigns the seats by priority
Also many years top priority is too low-
Club seats are more desirable but they did not go to top prioity people
Also no reward for those who went to Detriot versus those who skipped a year
Seems like they grouped top 3 prioity holders together

Re: Frozen Four ticket location

I sat in two places. My seats through the lottery were sec 229, row 3. Pretty high up but it was a good view of the ice. I also sat in seats that a friend got on the internet - 1st row behind the UMD bench. It was a terrible spot to sit if you wanted to watch the game. The coaches and players blocked most of the view. But it was fun to listen to the coaches and players.
