Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Figured a thread should be made to discuss things to see and people to do, that sort of thing.

I will mention this thread on the D1 side also.

Right now, sounds like a few people are hitting the Twins opener on Fri, and eventually end up at Gasthof's to close out the day. What is Gasthof's, one might ask? Here's the link: http://www.gasthofzg.com/

GopherPuckLive is also tailgating at its' usual tailgating spot, sorta behind the Dairy Queen, just past Tom Reid's Hockey City Pub, if you are walking from the Xcel Energy Center.

Speaking of which, the general consensus is most will end up at Reid's after the game on Saturday. They definitely are tolerant of people like us. ;)

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Brent, more than a few will be going to the Twins home opener. The count is 15 right now, and that is just our group and jmh and his buddy.

We don't have anywhere planned to drink on Wednesday night, but as I've mentioned before, I'll be willing to drink. I'm going to be in Grand Forks until about 1 on Wednesday and then driving home. If anyone wants to drink that night, lets put together a plan, maybe Shout House? or if people are interested, Toby's (sorry brent).

Thursday, I'm guessing we'll all end up drinking in St. Paul, since the games will be going on, and the hotel is there. Tom Reid's is the most likely destination, with some tailgate lot during the day.

Friday is the big day. I'm hoping to be downtown Minneapolis for lunch, before the Twins home opener. Start drinking away the hangover with lunch at noon or so, at The Loon, Smalley's, Kieran's, Bootleggers or Sneaky Pete's. Head to the game a little early, wander around TF, since some of the group hasn't experienced it yet. After the game we'll have some time to kill before we'd want to head to Gastof's. We can grab some drinks downtown then slowly work our way to Gastof's, stopping at Nye's on the way. Have they replaced the musical talent yet, after the unfortunate news Brent told me last weekend?

Saturday, same as Final 5. Tailgate, game, Reid's.

If you guys really like the Shout House, then you'd better get your fill before it's too late. Block E might be torn down within the next year or so, regardless of the decision about the proposed casino. I think the new owners might want to start that place over from the ground up.

I would be surprised if an established business like the Shout House, doesn't relocate somewhere else downtown. There are places they could move down there, closer to Target Field.

Yeah, you'd think. There are plenty of places available, given that Rosen's, The District and The Refuge all went under. Brother's is making a play for The Refuge's space, since it's right there on the same corner. Actually, most of the block that contains Pizza Luce is vacant on the side that faces Target Field. The problem is that it's a bad location when the Twins aren't playing, you know, the other 284 days of the year.

Brothers already bought the space that Rosen's and Refuge (same owners) are in. That is why they closed.

But with an established name and business like Shout House, they could make a location like that work. Shout House's current location isn't ideal either, being that it is on Hennepin instead of 1st, where most of the popular places are. Also, if Block E gets torn down, Kieran's will be looking for a new location.

I was going off an article in the Downtown Journal. It might be two or three weeks old by now. I didn't realize they bought Rosen's space too, though.

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

Also, who is all a part of the chunk of 5 tickets that we're buying from jmh? I know that me, shirtless guy, state of hockey and a non-poster friend are in there, but I can't remember the 5th. MNS did you say that you might still need a ticket depending on TBA's situation?

Also, my non-poster friend found out that he's required to be at training on the Thursday of the Frozen 4, so he's willing to sell Thursday games, or his whole strip if anyone else is interested. Let me know if you need a ticket.

Please don't forget that what you're buying from us is a block of 4 and a separate single seat that's with the 3 people in my group, so one of your 5 has to volunteer to sit with us (and potentially drink some of the festive beverages that we may or may not sneak in with us).

Yeah, I know that. I figure I can sit with you guys, if no one else wants to. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Yep, no reason it would be, just figured I'd make sure. :)

Looks like maybe my group is going to 112 for dinner on that Wednesday. Should be good, I think?

Re: Frozen Four: Don't Forget To Bring Your Parka!

A couple of questions from back east:

Last time the FF was in St. Paul we enjoyed an Irish Pub called McGovern's. Is it still there?

Has Reid's expanded any?

Yes, I'm taking jmh's...you must have forgot. Not surprising given how drunk you probably were. :p

Alcohol was probably the issue here...

I still have one left if anyone wants it. If I can't get rid of it my buddy is going to take it still, since he committed. But I'm guessing i'll find someone who wants a ticket.
