Frozen Four 2015 Where do we go from here?

Re: Frozen Four 2015 Where do we go from here?

Providence was awesome. :(
That was awesome. DC was cool, Tampa was the best I've been to when Maine wasn't there. I like Milwaukee and Boston. if I had a vote Tampa would be it, I think thats the case for most of us who were there :)

Re: Frozen Four 2015 Where do we go from here?

Tampa is my first choice to go back to. St. Paul, Denver and Washington were terrific as well. Would prefer not to go back to St. Louis, Columbus or Buffalo. But at the end of the day, I'll go to whatever city they put it in. Always a good time.

Re: Frozen Four 2015 Where do we go from here?

I pretty much agree with this, although we had a good time in St. Louis. But we had a good hotelwith a great bar and restaurant. If they ever go back to Buffalo I hope they tell the Jaycees we're coming.

Nashville would be fun. I would not be that excited about Chicago and I didn't think DC was that great.

Like to return to: Denver, Tampa, Buffalo
Don't need to return to: St. Louis, Detroit, Anaheim, Milwaukee :p

I must ask how you'd not be excited to go to Chicago, but would be excited to go to Providence and Buffalo?

I live an hour away from Chicago. I've been there. 8 million times. I don't think much of the neighborhood the arena is in. Good vacation destination does not necessarily equal good Frozen Four destination for me. I'd go on vacation to DC, absolutely. I didn't think it was a great FF destination.

Providence and Buffalo both have downtown arenas in very walkable areas, and the FF was a big deal for the city (although, as we all know, it can't return to Providence).
Buffalo's 4 am bar time did not hurt either. :)

I agree. Funny how nobody has really made that distinction. DC was great because we did a lot of sightseeing (even took a side trip to Monticello), but nobody in "town" really even knew what was going on except for the hockey fans who came to the game. The "community" wasn't really engaged. I don't equate having an NHL team with automatically being a great FF site. Perhaps it will take some time for that to evolve, but at the present time (and I've said this over and over) there are only a few true COLLEGE (not NHL) hockey "hotbeds" around, and DC certainly isn't one of them!

The train doesn't go to Puerto Rico :(

You obviously haven't seen the ads for the new "Caribbean Express." Similar to the train from London to Paris, it travels from Miami to the Bahamas, stops at Turks and Caicos and then onto San Juan. The MBTA (Boston) won the bid after all the trains in Massachusetts collapsed and disintegrated on the tracks from disrepair.

Re: Frozen Four 2015 Where do we go from here?

As far as cities that haven't hosted before, I'm curious about Nashville, San Jose would be fun if they want to go off the map, and anything in the NYC area would be great for me personally though I could see why others might not be on board. (Barclays especially would be a dream come true, the Frozen Four within walking distance of my home, but with a capacity of just 14,500 for hockey I don't know if it'd fly.)

If it's going to NYC (and I'd love to see it), it's MSG or bust.

This is the biggest thing. It's all about how the city engages in the event and how they make it an awesome experience for college hockey fans. It's about more than just 3 games of hockey in an NHL arena.

Yeah, that's basically what it comes down to. If you want to have a good time, you'll have a good time no matter where it is.

Some counties in NY are trying to push that back to 2AM. Not sure if Erie is one of them. Glad you like our stay-up times. :)

Yep. I have never NOT had fun at a Frozen Four. Even Detroit (the first time I went to Detroit was significantly more fun than the second, though :p).

Re: Frozen Four 2015 Where do we go from here?

Bars in general on Puerto Rico have no closing time. Though some cities set their own, "tourist" bars can stay open non-stop

People!!!! Get on board here! :D

Fact is that DC has major events that frequently don't raise a blip on the radar, its the nature of the town.

Honestly, only massive rallies inspire local chatter.

I vote for anywhere with a Wet Willies franchise. :D

The Redskins do, and also weather events or just the threat of them. :) You are correct -- there are so many events that go on here that one just doesn't pay attention.
