I'll be spending the week in Florida leading up to the Frozen Four. Nothing like a little golf, a little fishing and maybe some waterskiing to shake off the end of winter.

When the Spectrum is knocked down later this year, an entertainment complex is being built. There will be plenty to do there. Plus, the Phillies could be home at that time.

And you are 5-10 minutes away from downtown, thanks to the Broad Street Subway.

Like I said, that project is kinda in limbo now, hopefully it gets back on track in time.

The problem with the Phillies is that in 4 years time they'll either suck and not be worth watching or still be good and the games will be sold out. :p

Anaheim was fine as a site. The weather was a little cooler than normal, although still nice by most of our standards for that time of the year. There were a lot of things to do in the LA area. Sure it was farther to go and pricier than most FFs, and that seems to be a sore point for many people, but I don't have any problem with an occasional West coast FF. I think Tampa will work out fine also, and it is easier/cheaper to get to than Anaheim.

I'm not 100% sure what you really meant to say in that last sentence, but the way it's worded, it sounds like you think UAH is in the CCHA, which of course they are not. Either you meant to say UAF (which would make sense), or you don't know that Huntsville is not West of St. Paul. :p

Oh crap, you're right, my information really got jumbled in there. I think the point in general still stands: Detroit is west of the majority of DI schools; St. Paul is west of the vast majority.

On the contrary, I think it'll probably be a lot of fun - I guess I misspoke when I said it doesn't make a lot of sense, since it really does make sense as a place to go spend a long weekend. It just doesn't make sense if one of your goals is to be convenient to at least some of the DI hockey schools, which was sort of what was being discussed, if I'm not mistaken.

Clowns aside, I can't explain how exciting this is. It would be absolutely unreal to see BU play in the FF at home. At the very least, it'll be amazing to see college hockey in Philly, and show why it's unfathomable that there is no college hockey here.

Philly is the Calcutta of America. I'll go to the Frozen Four as always but probably just fly in the day of the games on Thursday since there's garbage to do in that lousy city. BU has played in one Frozen Four in the last 15 years, I'd say the odds of seeing those BC rejects is probably slim. At least the homeless people will have more people to shake down for change that weekend outside of Independence Hall. :)

I attended the NHL All Star Game in Tampa during Gretzky's final season. They have a very nice arena. There are plenty of dining, lodging and drinking establishments within a short walk of the arena. There are plenty of options for things to do on the off day, and there is easy and reasonble flight access. They also have quite a few hockey fans there. I think this is a great place for the FF and I think that the reviews will be pretty favorable after it is all said and done.

I also think that the TB Lightning organization will be much more cooperative now that Barrie and Koules have been kicked to the curb and replaced with Boston based owner Jeff Vinik and GM Steve Yzerman who both come to Tampa from college hockey strong areas.

I like both cities. Pittsburgh may have more stuff adjacent to the arena, but Philadelphia offers a lot of terrific tourist experiences for the historically, gastronomically and artistically inclined.

Both will be fun.

These locations are decent choices.

I like playing in an NHL city, one that actually produces some snow in the winter :p , but isn't in anyone's backyard. The Bradley Center is a great place to watch a hockey game, but in 2006, Wisconsin had a more intense 'home ice' feeling than most of their regular home games!

I thought St. Louis was an awesome venue for the event! I definitely support an encore there.

I'm sure its been said before, but I think Washington DC would be fantastic. NHL rink, no one's backyard (within reason), and not only would there be lots of activity choices during the downtime, most of them are free! :)

I had to double check to make sure this post wasn't dated 2005 or something.

But your points are right, and DC was a great host and should be in the mix at least once every 8-10 years. Easy flight/drive, good facility, 10 bazillion things to do and see.

Yes, there's nothing to do in the most historically important city in the country, and the 6th largest city in the country. All we do is eat cheesesteaks, boo santa and throw batteries, right? :rolleyes:

For a supposed Brown fan (Brown has fans?), you're not remotely cultured. Seriously, stay home. We dont want you here.
