Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Just purchased tickets as second (15) priority
Although lots of seats blocked downstairs and no club seats
I opted for corner 109 high up
Usually NCAA puts me in corner too low

DLG's reply matches my own experience exactly.

As a priority level 15, I logged into the NCAA site at 10:00 a.m. this morning and selected two tickets in Section 109, Row W.

As indicted by DLG, in the recent past, I was also assigned tickets too low in the corner. At least the new selection process allows me to choose a higher row.

All in all, a better system, but it's still unacceptable that all of the lower bowl side arena seats (and many of the prime low-row balcony locations) have already been blocked to long-term tourney subscribers.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Perfectly sound strategy. Bruno, DLG & others: Talk a little bit about more about what you took into consideration when you chose your seats. For example, how did you come up with the 23rd Row as the optimal height? For better or worse, this is the sort of issue that other posters are going to confront when it's their turn to select.

BTW, I'm not second guessing you at all. In fact, had I been ANY higher than Row 4, I probably would have done much the same.

On our part, the row selection was pretty simple. Last year at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, our two seats were on the curve in the 8th row. Given the choice, we would rather have a view above the glass, but not in the top row of the section, and we had been fortunate to gain such a location in the years before 2011. So, with the new seat selection process in effect, I selected Row W, which is four rows below the top (and our seats are immediately adjacent to NCAA-blocked Section 110).

Hope this helps.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Definitely helps; thanks much.

I've been tinkering with possible rules of thumb for Behind the Net seating. A first try would be Below Row 5 or Above Row 15. Trouble is, it's much more complicated than that. Directly behind the net, the "no-mans land" is probably bigger. In that case I might even say On The Glass or Above Row 20. In the corners, it's less of an issue. Row 10 or 12 would probably be fine in the corners.

The next question is, how high is too high? Or, at the very least, when do you reach the point of diminishing returns by going higher? An NHL building is likely to have 30+ rows in the Lower Bowl. Is Top Row in the Lower Bowl really the best? Or maybe Bruno has found the sweet spot at Row W/Row 23 -- and the seats get slightly worse as you go up or down from there.

A further problem is that every building is going to be a little different. Multiple variables matter. How steep is the pitch? How are the seats positioned relative to the rows in front of you? Is there a busy aisle between your seats and the net? If so, do the local ushers do a good job of restricting traffic during play? It would be great if a Pens fan could weigh in on some of these local particulars.

Overall, more questions than answers. But some things to think about as you select your seats.

I like corner seats, in one of the higher rows of the lower bowl. Gives you a good overall view of the ice.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

5. When logging in, I was ready with both my account number and password. It looks like the account number is totally unnecessary; and that your e-mail address will suffice. But the password is necessary. If your password is forgotten or lost, you're going to have to go through the standard "lost password" routine. Waiting for the new password to arrive would undoubtedly be stressful, and is to be avoided if possible. But again, this shouldn't be a major issue as delaying by a few minutes doesn't seem to do much, if any, damage to your result.

Best of luck to all who participate!

I haven't recevied my email yet since I am a lower number. To be prepared, what site are we logging into so I can be sure to have my password in hand ahead of time?

Thanks.

Unfortunately you can't. Link is unique for each group and you can't get to the Forgot Password link until ordering is live.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

BU2K's comment is correct, but there may be another option. Password assistance may be available from customerservice@veritix.com, or by calling 866-208-0048.

I got my password for the Tampa Frozen Four via e-mail, using this system. The same password worked this year. The veritix e-mail and phone number are still current. I don't know for sure if they're doing password assistance for Pittsburgh this way, but my guess is they are. Give it a shot.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

I am a priority 14 and logged on at 10am and ended up getting seats in section 108, row F. It looked like all the higher rows in the lower bowl sections have already been purchased. Good Luck everyone in getting your seats.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Props to pgb-ohio for his informative posts. Has anyone else encountered problems with the ncaa regarding the notification email? I'm a priority 14, yet, I did not get the email. If anyone else has had this problem, call the veritix customer service number. 1-866-208-0048. I got in right away and after getting my information confirmed, was able to get 2 tickets in sec 109.

I had no idea what my password was so I called and they sent me password reset e-mail. Thanks pgb-ohio and others for this info. I'm like a 9 so I have a while to wait, but want to be ready.

The one problem I was worried about with choosing higher row seats was having to look through the protective netting. I would hate that for $67/game. I didn't check the virtual view for all five sections available behind the net, but it looked like they may all be at least partially affected by the netting. The virtual view did have the netting in it when I checked the section directly behind the goal.

Well, that's a good point. The netting doesn't bother me that much, but it can indeed be a distraction. On the 3D Virtual page, it appears that at Row 7 or below, you're looking at the entire ice surface through the glass -- i.e. no netting. Above that, viewing some or all of the ice surface requires looking through netting; there's no getting 100% above it.

I would hate that for $67/game.
Which raises a question that's now several years old, and to my knowledge has never been definitively resolved. When no face value is printed on the individual ducats, what is the face value of each? After all, individual tickets do change hands. This is significant for a couple of reasons. One, when tickets are sold between buddies, typically face value is used as the sales price. Second, and perhaps a weightier concern for the priority holder, the NCAA threatens loss of all priority points if one is caught selling above face value. It's not exactly sporting for them to withhold the number under these circumstances!

Back in the days when the Semi-Finals were two separate sessions, the three sessions were usually priced similarly. But now that the semis are played in one session, I'm not sure that's the correct valuation. Is it really fair to say that the Thursday ticket is worth twice as much as the Saturday ticket? I think a legitimate argument can be made that 2 Semi-Finals = 1 Title Game. Using that approach, each day's ticket in Pittsburgh is worth $100. I can't, however, in good conscience advise anyone that this is a "safe" price to sell at. We just don't know.

I didn't check the virtual view for all five sections available behind the net, but it looked like they may all be at least partially affected by the netting. The virtual view did have the netting in it when I checked the section directly behind the goal.
The netting is displayed for all 5 sections. One suspects it's slightly more intrusive in person than it is on the simulation. Colorwise, it appears to be black netting. IIRC, the black netting is slightly better for TV viewers, while white netting is slightly better for in-person viewers. If that recollection is correct, I suppose it stands to reason that the black will almost always be chosen at the NHL level. :( ;)

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Many thanks to all of the posters who have provided information here.
I am a priority 13, and just bought tickets. It all went very smoothly.
The best seats we have ever had were front row upper bowls in Buffalo
(between the redlines, even). So, I opted for front row of section 215,
and also got seats on the aisle. Only downside is that we will probably
be in front of someone's band.

Thanks for posting. It's very interesting to hear what's still available as the seat selection plays out -- especially for those next in line. While the new system is much more transparent than its predecessor, there's still information to be gained by monitoring the selections as they occur.

Also, I was hoping someone would take a chance on the Upper Bowl Corners, Row A. Please post your reactions to that vantage point after the tournament.

As for the Band variable, your eardrums might just be out of harm's way. I have only vague recollections on this, but I think that in the usual case the bands are more behind the nets, as opposed to your location.

That, and they're only allowed something like 25 members. How loud can that possibly be? :) Without the microphones on them, it's sometimes hard to tell they're up there.

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

Has anyone with an 11 priority heard from NCAA?

priority 11 people eligible to purchase today. got the 1 week warning email last friday. if you have not heard you may need to investigate

Re: Frozen 4 Priority Number Confirmation email

I hope so. I got my email and I think I'm a 9.

We are 9's, and have not gotten the e-mail. I called earlier this week about it- and the operator suggested next week for 9s. But I know comcrap blocks e-mail, even though they deny it. I sure hope it's not happening this time.

edit- IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN THE E-MAIL, can you please, please, please do me a favor- what is the source of the e-mail. By that, I mean everything after the @. If Comcast is blocking, I want them to know what it is, and have them stop it.
