Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

Re: Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

Says the guy who is making a white-hispanic male into a "redneck cracker"... there wouldn't be evidence of a conspiracy if not for the out and out manipulations of the national press.

I was trolling Pio. I caught Patman. Keep or throw back?

Race is no doubt why the media is obsessed. But Zim's guilt isn't (or shouldn't) be determined by whether or not he's a racist.

He shot a guy. Was he justified? Yes or no. That's the question.

Right-wingers are so caught up with figuring out how to be the victims here that they've completely abandoned the old standby that guns are only a problem because of individual irresponsibility. Hello? Individual irresponsibility calling, line one...

meh... I see no point in baiting people for the point of baiting people. I only troll women at the bars but that's mostly because its fun and if you do it right you both have fun.

Re: Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

I don't see what the angst is about this guy being charged. Is it a ploy to get him on a lesser (manslaugher) charge? Maybe but I'll leave that up to the prosecution. Without being a lawyer, it seems plain to me that you can't follow someone needlessly, provoke a confrontation with them and then whip out a gun and shoot them down even if they're unarmed. While I have no personal problem with guns, where I draw the line is the notion that the average citizen has the same poise, judgement and accuracy to know when to use a firearm as do trained and experienced police officers. Somebody invades your house? Fire away. But idiots like Zimmerman should not be doing their own armed patrols, plain and simple. There's probably a reason why the guy didn't make the police force.

Re: Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

Hell to my knowledge, even when a cop shoots someone threatening them they're automatically on administrative leave or office duty while IA or whoever clears them. Not sure why this guy wouldn't even warrant a proper investigation as a private citizen. Probably automatic opposition to anything that Al Sharpton is in favor of. And to be fair, using that as a compass in life leaves you being right at least 80% of the time.

Re: Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

A black man killing a white man in Florida? Chair.

I dont buy any of the charges of racism in this case minus this one. If the roles had been reversed in this case Trayvon is arrested that night and charged within a week. That is my main problem with how all of this has gone down.

Bingo!

As of now I see no evidence that he was in any grave danger minus the heresay stuff about his head trauma and the broken nose that somehow didn't bleed ;)

Re: Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

I also think we can't discount that fact that Florida is a backwards, sh ! tty state that has trouble doing basic governmental tasks right, be it prosecutions (Casey Anthony) or even counting votes. However, I also believe that had these activists not pushed this case Zimmerman would be facing zero repercussions for his homicidal behavior. So, as the old saying goes about a stopped clock being right twice a day, I think that might apply here in regards to the Sharptons of the world. Now if he'd only S T F U while the case gets prosecuted....

Re: Florida vs. Zimmerman - Q.E.D????????

It was made political.

If people want to convict Zimmerman for being a moron... I can see that and there's probably some degree of truth in it. I think people are going at it from the paradigm of "if he hadn't...." therefore he created the mess that lead to the death. The real question is, does that establish some form of culpability. Zimmerman got type-cast quickly into a quite evil white racist archetype.

Good post...but it was political all along. There were elements of:

Gun control (or lack there of)
Questionable legislation (to say the least)
Potential racism or profiling
Questionable police practices (government)

...which instantly bring in the NRA, politicians, ACLU types and watchdogs all of whom look for lightning rods like this. All of this when society has been spoon fed culture wars for the last 5 years...and is heading into the meat of a presidential election.

All of these questions about injuries will be cleared up by actual witnesses, under oath, who either saw or treated Zimmerman. If he sought medical help for his nose the next day (as has been reported) then there will surely be a record of his visit, x-rays, and a doctor who can testify about his diagnosis. This will take it out of the hands of Chris Mathews and other wanna-bes, but will nevertheless be dispositive.

Interesting (and typical) that your concerns about "racism" come from only one direction. "War on blacks," "wanted dead or alive posters" and all the rest either escaped your attention, or worse, aren't racism in your world.

They aren't one way. Folks here have claimed that it has worked both ways...who am I to say it definitely hasn't?

Once I dug my way through your usual crud ("needlessly?" "provoke a confrontation?" "shoot them down even if they're unarmed?") all of which has been alleged by "The Reverands," but not established (you forgot to include the mandatory reference to "skillets"), we come to an area where we may agree: standards and regulations for community watch groups. Have no idea what the law is in Florida or if the outfit at Zimmerman's residence was registered or in compliance. Or even if there was an organized community watch. Maybe the community watch group was like Oswald's Fair Play for Cuba Committee, just one member. Personally I'm not totally comfortable with armed amateurs acting like cops. Patrol. Take plate numbers. Call 911. Leave the rough stuff to the pros. From time to time, cops shoot each other. How confident should we be that amateurs have the requisite judgement (and aim) to avoid hitting innocents?

I'd recommend rereading your post and then pointing out to the rest of us where you even hinted at racism from "The Reverands," or the New Black Panther Party or any of that menagerie of opportunistic pimps. All of your references only point to "racism" from whites, none from blacks. I'm not surprised you think that way. I am surprised that you deny it and/or defend it.

Is white Hispanic on the census form? I never heard of a white Hispanic until this case.

Father is white, mother is Peruvian I believe.

Also, I know a white Puerto Rican. White as a sheet, blond hair, you'd have absolutely no idea he has Puerto Rican blood unless he told you. He got all kinds of questions when he applied for college and put down his race.

I've seen that before. Apparently Hispanics can classify themselves either way on census forms or other forms that ask this sort of info.

God forbid but I'm in agreement with Old Pio. I have no problem with licensed gun owners protecting their house and property, but these right to carry guns in public laws are getting out of hand. These are the same people who can't drive to save their lives and spend their evenings watching American Idol. Yet with no training they're out in public making split second life or death decisions under duress with a loaded gun? No thanks.

Have a friend like that too who's mother is Peruvian and father is maybe Dutch. When she joined the Hispanic student club in college they tried to tell her she was in the wrong classroom. :D

Agree 100%.

From what I've read, Zimmerman sure seemed to be the aggressor in this situation. HE was the one to confront Martin, was he not?

I think this is the key, protect your house and home, no issue, walking around playing cop, big problem. The guy is hardly a trained professional
