Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

Yep, there is. I just read about a flexible bar and eccentric exercise that does wonders for tennis elbow - just ordered the bars on Amazon. The headline read like clickbait - "this one weird trick will fix your tennis elbow!".... but it was a medical journal. :)

How is it working? Link please! This has been driving me crazy for about 6 or 7 weeks now.

It's been about 3 weeks, and although I'm not completely healed yet, there's been a big improvement. Almost there.

My elbow hurt for about 3 months before I saw a doctor. I started with the red bar, then moved to the green one when that got too easy. I didn't bother buying the other colors, and I don't think I'll need to move to the blue one.

good luck :)

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

Well, I hit the 10-mile mark on Sunday which is my first time into double-digit mileage. Maintained a 10-min pace on that overall which I feel good about. Few weeks to go here before the BAA half.

Very good.

As I approach the Twin Cities marathon/Ultra Loony on October 3/4, my mileage is decreasing. Also, for that marathon, you can follow my progress here. I will be wearing bib 10007.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

6 days until the Twin Cities Ultra Loony Challenge. The goal for all races (5K/10K/Marathon) isn't to PR, but to finish.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

good luck :)

I was skeptical at the simplicity of the exercise ("this is supposed to heal my elbow?") but a couple of days and I'm amazed at the improvement already. No more grimacing when I pick up a coffee pot, etc. Although handling this thing threatens my masculinity a little bit.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

First two stages of the Ultra Loony down.

10K: 1:02:00, a 9:59/mile.
5K: 32:34, a 10:29/mile.

Now I need to complete the marathon tomorrow.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

SB: hope you do well in the marathon. Enjoy the post run beer.

I really need to get back to the gym, but I cannot shake off this dam cold. On the bonus side, I have been maintaining a mostly healthy eating habit with me being sick and all. I actually have lost 4 pounds since my last doctor's appointment from a month ago. At least the scale is going in the right direction.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

LWB, I did great. I finished in 4:50:00, which is a new personal record by 9 minutes. I just felt the power in my legs and I ran my heart out. I didn't stop or walk.

As for what's next, the Groundhog Marathon on February 6.

That is great to hear.

Wow Congrats.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

Finished my last long run (8 mi) last night before this weekend's BAA half marathon. Put in some nice splits at the back end so it was probably one of my best runs to date.

I'll take it easy this week and throw in a few miles here and there and hopefully I'll be ready to do some damage on Sunday.

Awesome! Sounds like you did the training so you should be in good shape.

Go get em today! You do not need luck.

Re: Fitness (Diet/Exercise) 2015: Define Yourself.

Smashing success. Finished about 8 mins higher than expected; a smidge under 2:02:00.

Weather was perfect. Had a very good runner keep with me and pace me. Biggest issue was that I was using Runkeeper and according to that we were going around 9:08 every 5 mins it reported to me and we were expecting to be under 2 hours as a result. Depending on the accuracy of Runkeeper and the course measurement (I assume shortest distance on the course and not middle of the road?), we seemed to run 13.34 miles so the pacing was kinda right but not straight up according to where we were on the course.

Courses are measured at the shortest possible distance. No one ever actually runs that route, so you will always run some extra tenths of a mile over any significantly long race. That's also why pacers are supposed to check timing at official mile markers and not "Garmin time."
