I've been hearing that Oswego's Ian Boots is considering playing for the Akwesasne Warriors next season.

Vermont (Rock Crushers?) team will be based out of the ski area Jay Peak, they have a new 200x85 rink. Their targetted audience/fan base is skiers looking for apres ski activities..no joke, and Canadians as Jay Peak is right on the border.

Delaware (nee Vermont) has no home and relies on pickups to fill out the roster. It's a mess. It should be better when they find a home rink for next season.

I wondered what happened to them. They were going to play at Jay Peak, and then moved to St. Albans, and then disappeared.

I went to a couple of games at the arena in Morrisville to see the Vermont team in action. It was the first time I had visited the rink and it was a decent facility for a high school game. The games I went too had maybe 300-500 fans at the games and a lot of the young fans were at the bar area drinking beer-not me I was watching the games. The hockey play was good but there must of been at least 5 fighting majors in each game. My opinion I think the fans would supported the team if the games were played at a great facility like Norwich or Middlebury and if the games were played during the week to not compete with UVM, Dartmouth, Norwich, Middlebury and St. Mike's. I talked to a couple of players from out of the area and they were suprised to hear that there were so many college hockey teams in Vermont. r

Re: Finally it has been done. The Federal League is Real!

A little more on the Vermont Wild. The team was originally going to play at the hockey facility at Jay Peak with the projected market being Quebec which is only a few miles away. I have no idea what the Jay Peak arena looks like but for some reason it didn't work out there and the team was moved to the high school rink in Morrisville which is a small town near Stowe. Morrisville market was much too small and the not many fans showed up for games to cover the team payroll of $5,000 a week plus expenses. The team ceased operation sometime around Christmas. I thought the team and league would be a good testing ground for some of the D3 and D1 players in the area. The play was much more offensive then what you generally see in college hockey where defense is key. The owner is a nice guy but had a very poor business plan.
