FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

Let's all remember, RIT has 2x the number of NCAA wins as Jan.

:D

In about a quarter of the time also.

But they would have won today and evidently should have two weeksish ago.

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

RIT certainly did not play like they did in Albany. Wisconsin deserved to win, but the Hockey East officiating left plenty to be desired. The key five minute major call by Benedetto was at best two minutes; the RIT player barely touched the Wisco player. I believe the Badgers got two goals on the five minute penalty, not a minor factor in the game. I think Wisco would win the game regardless, but the officiating certainly did RIT no favors!

That's been called all season long in every televised league. It was compound by the fact that Golubef (?) was looking up to catch a puck when the hit was being setup.

I don't think that the officiating was at all bad. The calls that the HE refs made were all good. I was surprised to be honest. Nice to see some good officiating after some of the terrible games called by the WCHA refs all season.

Also, it was on the ledge of the boards with no glass... at game speed that looked like it could have been ugly. The intention to injure wasn't there, but...

Nice season RIT.

I'm not gonna pile on. Your program will use this to build upon and will long remember your Regional Championship in your own backyard.

See you at the Kohl in two years. :)

Big ups from a lifelong UW fan. RIT has NOTHING to hang their heads about, we just came out focused and ready for anything. Congrats on a great season! :)

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

Thoughts on the game...

Ice was slow.

The 5 minute major was not a 5 minute penalty. 2 for sure, not 5. The one early in the first was was called crosschecking could have been called a 5.

Obviously RIT isn't that bad, UW just jumped on them right away and that was probably the difference. RIT held a tired DU at bay with the lead and controlled it. They jumped on UNH, which probably would have lost 8 of 10 to Cornell had they played 10. RIT caught a break there with that matchup. UW played nearly flawlessly.

My oldest son was feeling sorry for RIT when it was 5-0, but I told him you have to keep the hammer down bury these guys, no mercy. This isn't a squirt B game.

BC is up 3-0 right now. I like UW's chance against either. But it's gonna be a tight game.

Congrats to RIT.

LET'S GO RED!!!!!!!!

This actually really reminded me of some of the mis-matches we've had in youth games. I was wondering if there was a running clock provision.

I was thinking about it too and came to the conclusion that this is the big boy league, given the situation RIT would have ran up the score as high, if not higher. If it was me, I would be even more offended if the other team just gave up after going up by so many. It's not about how you make the other team feel, you have to keep your guys hot, and if that means the final is 10-1 or worse, too bad. We got our opportunities on the PP, and we capitalized. Certainly no one would have a problem if we were running up the score on Minny, NoDak, or St. Cloud. Hell, RIT got their "pride" goal, and deservedly so.

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

RIT's run didn't end for the 4th year in a row... Wow, Miami? Fans have to be feeling sick so far in their game with BC!

Say it with me...

OVERRATED *Clap*Clap*Clap*Clap*Clap OVERRATED

Cup Cake Hockey Association, FTL

I really thought that Michigan looked a LOT better 10 days ago. Too bad as it would have been a great match-up with Michigan playing BC.

I'm still glad that Blue isn't there though with their fans. Also, it's not over for Miami just yet although that fat singing b-i-t-c-h is warming up.

Michigan is definitely a MUCH better team than their record showed this season. I think that we would have been in trouble had they made it to the Frozen Four. Fortunately (for us) the refs blew the call and waved off their GWG in OT (IMHO).

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

Just got back from the second shellacking of the night ...

Congrats to Wisconsin and good luck on Saturday. I'll be there in orange watching (still not sure who I'll cheer for).

Clearly, the Badgers came to play tonight. I thought they spent their two weeks well prepping for RIT and knew what to do to knock Cinderella down and out quickly. Had RIT got the first goal, I suspect their energy, etc. would have come up like it did in Albany. Regardless, we had a good run and it is just amazing to be sitting in Ford Field with 3 #1 seeds and pinch myself to see our Tigers there.

Can't wait for the rematch with the Badgers ...

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

Good run, RIT. I have a feeling you guys will find a way to stick around.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again...

I had the same feeling. That's how they beat Denver, they scored first and were able to set the game's tempo and play their game. They then took advantage of Denver's mistakes and kept theirs to a minimum. I have a feeling that they probably couldn't have done the same thing to Wisconsin, Bucky has too many weapons, but you never know in the one-and-done that is the NCAA Frozen Four.

This is correct, not the way we were playing yesterday. The ice was seriously tilted and they never had a prayer.

I still for the life of me can't figure out how Denver lost that game.

I understand one and done hockey, but c'mon Pios.

Re: FFFF Semi (4/8): Wisconsin vs. RIT

I'm glad the badgers saved the best for last. It seemed they couldn't do anything wrong and RIT couldn't do anything right.

Everything was clicking last night.

I thought the refs did a better job than WCHA refs hands down. The 5 min call could have been 2 but I'm not sure kicking the kid out of the game was justified. Toward the end of the game last night I thought there was going to be alot of fights. Bamm Bamm looked like he was going to do some damage on the kid who checked him from behind in the boards.

RIT Fans-I thought you were going to win this game. There was a reason why you made it to the FF and the way the Badgers played against Vermont and St. Cloud, I wasnt holding my breath that we would actually win. So congrates to you for making it this far. Just think you can now say you went farther in the tourney than our next door neighbor.

If the Badgers play the way they did last night I like our chances.

GO RED

Considering that about 10 years ago, we won a league game 24-0, no hard feelings, Badgers. Wisconsin just looked better all night, congratulations on the win, and good luck on Saturday.

RIT doesn't have anything to feel bad about, I mean, look at the drubbing BC laid on Miami... Wow. It was pretty cool to see a D-I upstart there and I hope to see them get to that level again. Not to mention that your boys seem to be a very classy bunch who truly enjoyed the experience and will carry it with them for a lifetime.

I think Denver was just playing their worst hockey of the year at the wrong time. The RIT loss was their 3rd in a row and we had just beat them 6-3 in the WCHA consolation game. We only outscored them by a goal in a weekend series at the Kohl during the regular season.
