Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Nothing insightful to say.

I got some insight. After watching Notre Dame goon it up for two games in December, I just hope we come out of this without any injuries or suspension.

Excellent game.

According to the Notre Dame announcer Eric Alexander "faked a knee injury" up in Big Rapids. Funny stuff.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

After tonight, we've got 10 games left. Those last 10 are as follows: MSU, NMU, Notre Dame, BG, Western. Six of them are at home. We might need 7 of those 10, plus a win at the Joe, to get to you-know-where.

We've been here before, just a couple years ago. We couldn't finish then. Let's not make the same mistake twice.

6 games down. 5-0-1 so far, with BG and Western to go.

Let's close the show, boys.

Next weekend should be sold out as well. It's possible that we could salt the CCHA away next weekend, with a little bit of help.

It's probably not going to hold through the end of the night, but as of 10 PM, we're #1 in the PWR.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

As of this post, Ferris State is #1 in the PWR.

It's February 11.

Ho. Lee. S***

Team looked REALLY good tonight against Notre Dame. Nelson played fantastic again in net, everything was clicking perfectly. Plus, in 6 years of going to these games, that might have been the loudest I've ever heard the Dawg Pound. My ears were legitimately ringing right after the game, I can't remember that happening before. This has been a hell of a season.

Now we just have to avoid any trap game that can come from Bowling Green. We take care of business there...it starts to become a "when" and not an "if" for getting to the big show...

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

I noticed, but didn't wanna say anything. Nonetheless, I was excited.

Ditto.

Great weekend. The second was Notre Dame's best period and Ferris got out of that +1. The defense did their job and the few times that ND got through and had a good chance, Nelson was able to shut them down. The lone ND goal, with 5 seconds left in the first, was a perfect shot that clanked off the post. They have to keep their heads on straight and get things done with BGSU. I'd like to see BC beat BU Monday night too!

That #1 ranking in the Pairwise sure feels good. Keep it going.

Go Dawgs!

I saw where Ferris State is, and I thought, "Man, that's great for Chad." Here's to meeting you in the final.

No, not the CCHA final. Tampa.

Have to agree, didn't see this coming when they were at Yost. Getting it done, Dogs.

Hopefully Ferris will get the help they need to wrap up 1st place next weekend.

I agree, although I hate to be a damper on Ferris' parade. They also ran through the CCHA regular season then laid a brick in the tourney in 2003. However, I don't think that they ever had a #1 ranking in the PWR before. Kudos to you.

Let's hope that after Ferris sweeps Bowling Green next week that doesn't hurt them.

I think we're all aware of what happened that year; Ferris was sensational that season, playing a dazzling, high-speed attacking game anchored around Chris Kunitz. The three games Michigan played against them (I was at them all) were electric both in quality of play and quality of atmosphere. I don't think you could call losing to a hot Michigan team at the Joe "laying a brick." They got beat by a strong team. Both teams wound up losing to Minnesota in the tourney, though Michigan came a lot closer to winning. It was, until now, the glorious age of Ferris State hockey.

I think Zach Parise's calves are still sore from the shots he took to them in Minneapolis, though. Teams that played Ferris in '03 knew about it the next day.

Didn't Ferris bow-out of the big boy tourny in the first round though?

In the NCAA in 2003, after beating North Dakota, FSU lost to Minnesota at Marucci and Kunitz had two goals before getting a leg injury that took him (and the Bulldogs) out of the game.

I think that's the big difference between that team and this one, this team isn't dependent on one guy. No Hobey candidates, heck, nobody in the top 50 in scoring.

Maybe we can get our CCHA Tournament revenge this season! ;)

You beat NoDak? Good job, I forgot about that.

And I hope that you don't get any revenge against Michigan EVER (not just in the CCHA Tournament). However, beating a team 3 times in one year is very difficult. We swept Western in the regular season last year but those punks beat us in the semi's.

I guess we'll see. Good luck.

BTW- I noticed on the irrelevant KRACH rankings that the CCHA has the top 7 teams in the country via SOS.

Ferris State and Winning??? Does not compute.... :p

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Awesome weekend. This is the best hockey I have ever seen Ferris State play. I don't know what woke them up (their powerplay HAS to be given a great deal of credit for this win streak, along with very solid defense) but this team can play with anybody right now. And good luck to any team that comes into Big Rapids to play. Holy cow that building has been loud the past 2 weekends. It's great to see the community out and supporting the team as well. They definitely deserve it.

A few others have mentioned it, but next weekend is big. I'd like to see Ferris put the pedal to the metal and don't look back heading into their last series with Western.

When their offense is clicking and their defense is as consistent as it has been, this is a fun team to watch!

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

I love the way Ferris is firing on all cylinders this year. Their fourth line is scoring, the goalies are hot. They keep surprising every game I watch. I have never noticed the dman #7 all year on the bulldogs. Against notre dame he had 4 or 5 beautiful one-times. the kid has a cannon. Ferris was missing that big shot on the point on the power play this year, with Wieteca and Redmond gone, apparently this guy has been on the team all year.

It is also nice to see the town and people starting to get excited again. It is funny how winning can really give everything a boost!!!!

go dawgs!
