Christmas albums by:

Nat King Cole
Johnny Mathis
Bing Crosby
Elvis
Leontyne Price

Manheim Steamroller and Trans-Siberian can blow me. :) And as for 24-hr stations I find them pretty easy to avoid by just not turning them on. ;)

Re: Favorite Christmas...err, Non-Denominational Winter Holiday Music

Leon Redbone... "I'm dreamin... of.. a White.. Christmas..." :D

Re: Favorite Christmas...err, Non-Denominational Winter Holiday Music

Oh... and Bert Kaempfert music was always a holiday staple growing up.

I thought he was just a Barenaked Ladies song line

I have a fair holiday stash at this point... always looking to expand but I like to have a good idea of what i'm getting before I buy so I'm selective. I think I have many of the standards (TSO, Manheim Steamroller, etc.) but I'm always open to new suggestions.

I'm going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra next week at Verizon Center... first row of the 2nd level... should be fun.

Jeez, how could I forget "Christmastime in Hollis" by Run DMC?!:o

CDs I actually own (rather than the smattering of songs on my comp):

Christmas Songs By Sinatra
Dr Demento Presents The Greatest Christmas Novelty CD

Both are excellent. :)

I've heard a few reviews (and agreed upon by some acquaintances) that the new Bob Dylan Christmas album is horrendously awesome. Or awesomely horrendous. Depends on how you want to put it.

I was talking with someone about that album the othey day. They made it sound like it is a crime against humanity. But at the same time one of those things that after you listen to it more than once it becomes hiliarious.

Generally, I like a lot of older stuff - Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis. Also have some newer stuff like Diana Krall and Sarah McLachlan, but the older songs are my favorite. White Christmas, Silver Bells and I'll Be Home for Christmas are probably my favorites.

Have to concur with those that said Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime is the worst song of any kind, anywhere, ever. I also hate that Red Shoes song. And Brenda Lee's voice.
