Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

I have been working on my spice tolerance. Well, trying to anyways. Stupid Scandinavian blood.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Tabasco is too vinegar-y for my taste. I like Cholula way better.

Sriracha, although completely different from other, Cayenne based sauces, is just out of this world great.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Her name was Rosãna.

As for condiments I like all the ones that Swami named, thai red chili sauces and my wife buys a version of crushed red pepper from the Asian store near us that is several times hotter than the average blend.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Just got back from the local Chinese buffet. The food was mediocre, but I put Sriracha on everything so it was okay.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Only if they're scrambled or in omelet form. Sunny side eggs with fresh black pepper + yolk mopping with english muffin toast = tBusiness.

I like scrambled eggs with the green Tabasco.

Since people are such fans of Sriracha, I should mention that while shopping for my usual wasabi peas, I found Sriracha peas. I didn't care for them, but a friend of mine liked them so much he took the can home after a gathering.

Slap Shot: You live near a Sun Foods or something?

I had to do some merchandising at the Sun Foods in Brooklyn Park once, I spent more than I made that day.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Tapatio
Sriracha
Tabasco

Somewhat related: one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received was a Tabasco sampler from my sisters. I think it had green, chipotle, regular, habanero, and garlic, along with two marinades and a steak sauce. It was completely unexpected and incredibly awesome, which is probably the definition of a good present.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

For me, Frank's is kinda like the Budweiser of Hot Sauce. It's reliable and gets the job done, especially when you do Buffalo wings, but there are so many more interesting and flavorable ones out there...

Frank's rules. Sautee chicken in Frank's and a little bit of water and dice it up for chicken tacos - excellent!

I'm definitely new to the hot sauce scene, my taste buds rejected it until recently. I still dislike Tobasco. And I know Frank's is the Bud of hot sauces, good for them. So where do I go from Frank's to ease into better sauces, one step at a time? That's my question....

As long as you end up at 99 1/2% Sauce, I don't really care. :D
