Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

We had a bbq last night with some neighbors. I picked up a Ghost Chile from an Indian grocery store last night. After a few beers I brought the infamous chile out of it's holding cell in the pantry. Surprisingly, no one was impressed. Even after I informed them that it was the hottest chile known to man. I challenged one guy to take a bite and not drink any milk for 5 minutes. He started laughing and said he could eat the whole thing. He proceeded to put the whole thing in his mouth and started chewing. Almost instantaneously the most blood curdling screams I have ever heard in my life were released from the depths of his soul. He was sweating out of ever pore on his body, his clothes were instantly drenched and you could see every vein in his body pulsating. Thankfully the Indian guy at the grocery gave me some Raita, whichi seemed to help, along with milk. I wish I would have caught this on video! It would be all over you tube right now.

I would love to know if anyone else has tried one yet?

Scary. Good thing the guy didn't have any weird medical conditions or there could have been a hospital visit.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

He did go to the emergency walk in clinic. They told him there was nothing they could do. They did tell him that he wouldn't be able to taste food for about a month. It's a condition called geographic tongue (I think) and it made his tongue look like it had weird designs on it...very strange.

So, was he out to prove that he was a man or what? Cause it sounds pretty insane to me.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

For you fans of Tabasco...if you ever go through Gatlinburg, TN there is a Tabasco store there with anything and everything you can imagine with the Tabasco logo on it. They also sell various Tabasco flavored stuff and a variety of other hot sauces as well. I know that you can buy all the same stuff online but seeing it in the store is pretty cool.

I always wondered how this type of thing was possible. You get new taste buds about every 2 weeks. Wouldn't that give him back his ability to taste food?

Unless it literally removed skin. ouch.

Along these same lines I read somewhere that about every 10 years we have a completely new set of cells. So every 10 years you are technically a different person.

Yes, he was trying to be a bigshot I guess. His wife told him to do. She said that the habernero was the hottest. I think ghost chiles are 75 times hotter than those.

I looked up the geographic tongue thing and it does say it is caused from eating got peppers and its a type of allergic reaction. It prevents you from being able to taste food fully for about 2-4 weeks.

Anyone that does something this stupid deserves all the pain. I only challenged him to take a small bite. The darn thing is only the size of a grape.

His wife egged him on? Wow, a pair of idiots.

Re: Favorite Brand of Hot Sauce...

Better than Pepinos' green sauce? that would have to be my fave, although I really havenn't tried a lot of different ones.

Better? I haven't had Pepinos in a long time so not sure on that. The Mex Sauce is quite tasty, might have it at your local Hannaford?

.

I though Habenero were the hottest. I have some dried that I grew and they'll take your freakin head off. If Ghost chiles are 75 times hotter, wow
