Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Yup, I spoke with Zudnic about this early today, he is aware of the problem...it is because the USCHO website, the Quinnipiac roster is blank.
Thanks. I owe you a bug public thank you for essentially being my QA guy.

Also there are issues with players with "initialed" first names like A.J. You can move them normally but they may not display correctly.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

No.

Check out what was on my bench last night..
Kearney, Denny (F/Yale)
13 3-1--4 6 GWG HAT Fri 10/29 Brown Yale
Ouch! Get that kid out on the ice! ;)

I've got his teammate, Broc Little. Waiting on him to light it up like that.
I remember those guys last year in Worcester against BC. Man they can light the lamp.
No lead is safe against Yale.

Here are three ideas I'm kicking around for future enhancements. If you could choose just one of these, which would you choose?

1. Better draft tools
2. E-mail notifications - like when you have benched players for a midweek game, configurable in a "my account" type screen
3. Player trades

I think trades is a good idea. Just wondering how you'd go about it?
Would they be public so everyone would have a shot to trade for the player? Or private email deals?

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

The idea I had in mind was to stop requring a full 12 player bench. You could then offer a trade to another GM who would have x amount of time to accept or decline. The problem with trades is that it is very complicated - you have to validate that the receiving GM has a slot for them, and that during the offer period the offering GM doesn't drop the guy. That kind of thing. The more I think about it the more I am concerned for the amount of time that would take.

How would the "public" trade thing go?

I have no idea... this is my first time doing this. :D

I was thinking a GM announces he has a player available for trade and the other GM's have a chance to bid player(s) for him. But then again, what would keep a GM from announcing that everyone on his roster is available from day one?

I take back my first statement... there was a group of us that did Fantasy MLB years ago, long before the internet (for a small amount of winnings to the winner). We used to have bi-monthly meetings at someone's house for trades, chit chat, snacks, etc. It was a lot of fun. Then after a few years, a new guy came on board who had all kinds of time on his hands. He was fleecing less knowledgeable, less interested GM's of their best players. His teams were loaded and we had no chance. After 2 years the fun was taken out of it and the group broke up.

I could see that happening here with trades. Some folks might even set up an alias name (team) so they would have another team to help load up on their one team. Takes all the fun out of it for everyone. So, on second thought, perhaps trades are not such a good thing unless an awful lot of thought is put into it.

Make it so the league can veto any trade within, say 3 days. If a majority veto it (because it is clearly an unfair trade, or some other reason), it doesn't go through. Yahoo! has this feature on their fantasy leagues.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Editing this post to be less whiny.

Basically, I don't have the resources to build super-robust trade functionality in the near term. If trades were to happen, they would probably start with 1:1 swaps and we would take it from there.

You guys already work this out or are you paging Irish08?

I'm waiting for a reply. I'm considering some other trade proposals that would make this one look like small beans ;)

I like that you went public with it. I think that's the fair way go and it gives others an opportunity to make you an offer for the players that you're willing deal. Could get interesting around here. :)
