ESPN sucks

Re: ESPN sucks

Did Steve Levy just say: "speaking of BC we'll check in on Travis Roy!!!?"

Re: ESPN sucks

And "speaking of BC, let's check in after the break to see how Travis Roy is doing" Whaaaaat? Do they even think before speak.

And Dave Starman missed the 4th DI team in CT, Sacred Heart (yes, I know it's Atlantic Hockey but it is DI and one his missed when he said CT has three DI teams).

But Starman did give props to Lowell when he compared their defensive style/structure to Q and how BC prepared for Q as if they were playing Lowell. But Q is just so good at plugging and clogging the passing and shooting lanes, blocking shots...was having flashbacks to the regional finals two weeks ago seeing Q do to BC what they did to Lowell.

To be fair, the first period was rife with bad mistakes by BC.

Whatever else you can say about tMullet as a color man, he does notice a lot of little things, which BC made plenty of mistakes on that end.
True, but it might have been nice if he noticed the other team on the ice qirhour doing so in the context of BC

mookie does this qualify for the Jackie Parker comment?

Re: ESPN sucks

Honestly, until college hockey gets more love on SportsCenter and the games get more eyeballs, I can understand it not being worth their time to be better researched.

I'll take the enthusiasm if that's all we're going to get in the interim.

On the bright side, I don't think we would even get a "face" like Levy on intermission in previous years.

You have a much better attitude than I do. Not impressed if what qualifies as enthusiasm is ignorance and shoddy prep. I would much rather have Jimmy Connolly on there- he is knowledgeable and has enthusiasm.

Re: ESPN sucks

could mullet at least learn (some) names of the guys on the teams? "all of his buddies" isn't doing it for me. ah. why complain? it is on TV and its not lacrosse.

Re: ESPN sucks

I just wish we could get Gary Thorne back...I like Buccigross' love of hockey but he is just not a hockey play by play guy.
I should count how many times during the course of a game he says, "Here comes....." Makes me wonder if he lets his wife know before he does.

"Here comes John!"

Re: ESPN sucks

At least you didn't have to leave your house with 17,000 of your neighbors and come back inside to watch the second game.

Re: ESPN sucks

The funny thing is that many moons ago, Steve Levy actually used to call NHL games on ESPN. I find it funny that they have him show up on the college hockey panel since he clearly seems rusty considering he hardly is involved with hockey anymore.

Buccigross, however, I always relish the opportunity to hear on the television.

Re: ESPN sucks

For how long have you been employed by ESPN and/or Disney or one of its subsidiaries? Most of ESPN's people don't even bother getting pronunciation guides from the teams, or if they do, they're not making use of them.

I work in TV, but not at ESPN. Listen, they really do blanket this tournament with coverage. Is the coverage perfect? Of course not. But it's better than just about every other national NCAA tournament except for basketball and football. They do more in the hockey tournament than they do for lacrosse, frankly. Bucci and Melrose are annoying, but the vast majority of the coverage is exemplary.
