Obviously the NCAA doesn't give to sh#ts what the author thinks because they are not eligible..... One would think if they had a leg to stand on it would have been challeged in court a long time ago.

As long as ANY players are on two way CHL-NHL contracts, EVERY player in the CHL will be considered a professional. It does not matter how much any specific individual player makes. I'll gladly support allowing all former CHL players full NCAA eligibility as soon as the leagues contains no players who have signed NHL contracts.

Hakstol proposes to integrate major junior and NCAA eligibility. What's next? The wisest, or at least the most vocal denizens of this forum seem to be having second thoughts about the absurdity of CHL/NCAA cooperating. Cheetos, anyone?

Do we consider players on the U-20 national teams tainted by the hideous professional mark because they are dressing with and up against signed NHL players? No, of course the NCAA makes an exception for this.....as they should for any unsigned CHL player.

The USHL will simply have to adapt. Do they not call themselves a "tier 1" Junior A league, insinuating that they are the equal of the CHL? Now you are saying they have to be protected because they in no way can compete against the big bad beast known in these parts as the CHL???

UND's reputation didn't come out of nowhere. If their coach wasn't such a uncivilized dirtbag and their players weren't a bunch of goons who can't stay out of trouble on or off the ice, you wouldn't have to defend them.

I didn't say any of that. Just said that there will be (never said should be) pressure to protect the USHL.

The issue is that the players on the two way CHL-NHL contracts are PAID to play hockey in the CHL. None of the players in the WJC are paid to play in the tournament.

The bottom line is that the USHL will have to adapt or fail.....simple as that.

You know the dirty little secret in all of this is that the CHL likes the way, no I should state LOVES the way things are now. You can blame Hasks and UND for bringing this subject to light but he speaks the truth. The NCAA is seriously handicapped in its ability to go out and land the best talent and, IMO, it is getting harder and harder for it to do so. The CHL holds all the major cards. They can contact players whenever they like, they can see them as often as they like and give them contracts that equal what the NCAA can offer two years before college teams can even approach them. Even when a player chooses the NCAA and actually makes it to campus, the CHL follows him there, maintaining close contact, whispering in his ear that if things aren't going well, if the coach isn't giving you enough playing time, if your dorm isn't large enough, if your roommates a slob, if your toilet's leaking, we can fix it by you simply signing on the dotted line.

It is becoming an un-winnable war and its high time the NCAA adapt themselves to the changing times.

Sorry but that is pretty pathetic for a place that thinks its the be all and end of all of the hockey universe. My city of 100,000 has at least a dozen or more.

Remind me why I should care? Is this what you do to make yourself feel better about living Ina second rate country? Haha.. Wha a tool.

We produce more than hockey players in this country pal. And as far as hockey goes, only NY has as many (tied) players in the HOF.

Minnesota is a tiny little blip in the hockey world. So you produce alot of good college players relative to the rest of the USA....whoopee....who cares. Compare that to a small Canadian city or a little country in Europe like the Czech Republic or Finland or Sweden and you suck.

Somebody once thought Americans played like Canadians.....Maybe guys from Michigan do but in Canada we have what we call the "minnesota" style of hockey. It's a very distinctive style that places speed above talent unfortuneatly hockey has grown since the 1980's but since you sealed off the borders you would not know that. Minnesota players can all skate but have no hockey sense.
